Useful gifts for my kiddos?

We are planning a 10 day Land and Sea adventure for January 2017. DH and I hate giving gifts to our kiddos that aren't useful or really wanted. I thought all of the upcoming gift giving occasions would be great opportunities to give our kids things they could later use on our vacation (that they have no clue about and will find out at Christmas this year).

So my question to you is... what are some cute Easter/ Birthday/ etc ideas that could then be used on the cruise/ in WDW? What do you find super helpful on cruises for your own kids?

Some ideas I have are:
Bathing suits
Lanyards
Pins (they already collect these)
Turves Tumblers

But that's where I'm stuck. Any other ideas would be awesome! Thanks!

At the beginning of our cruise, we bought the kids the Disney Cruise Line swim cover-ups. They used them the whole cruise. And, when we go swimming in the summer, they wear them and are reminded of the great times on our cruise. Another idea would be a small scrapbook or autograph book for the Character signatures. My mom gave each of the kids a Disney gift card for their birthdays so that they can pick out something they want on the cruise.

This is another BIG question I have. We love us some Disney and have filled up autograph books, Disney Character Books, Pillow Cases, and matted frames with signatures. They absolutely still love the character signature aspect and would want to get them, but I'm running out of ideas of what to sign.

My 7 year old wants to be a chef one day and wants to work in Disney World (I mean how cute!) I was going to get him a cook book and let him collect signatures there. For the other two I have no idea.... Vynlmation?!?

I love the cover up idea!!! Thank you!!

Don't know if you're referring to the "drop off items at Guest Services and get character autographs" or not, but this is no longer done.

Nope. I know it's not done any more. Just have run out of things for them to have autographed :)
I guess that's a good problem to have! ha!

A Disney tote bag or backpack could be used before the cruise and also as a possible FE on the cruise (and as a bag at WDW).

It seems we always cruise after Christmas or birthdays so we try to do the same thing with gifts.

Here are some things that we have done that I haven't seen mentioned already:

Disney pjs
Mickey crocs or flip flops
Sandals
Sunglasses
Beach toys, swim goggles, snorkel equipment
New headphones to use on the airplane
Disney rolling suitcases
Travel pillow and blanket
Books, cards or small toys for the plane
Disney luggage tags
Disney rash guards

Have a great cruise!!

Light up toys for Pirate night.

Personalized shirts or dresses. The characters will greet you by name if your name is displayed. She thought it was magical!!

Pirate attire (bandanas, patches, costumes)

A journal to document the trip

New camera or other fun gadgets

and some not so fun things like: laundry hamper, shoe organizers, door magnets, small personal items like hairspray, or glitter gels

The journal to document the trip is genus! My 9 yr old will love that!

Thank you!

We have a 10-hour drive to P.C., and one year, I got everyone individual HydroFlasks for use on both the car ride and the cruise. Worked out great, the kids didn't outgrown them in five minutes like they would with a t-shirt/rash guard, and the bottles have been used long after the cruise was over.

How old are your kids? I was thinking about getting them swells but worried about the large mouth opening instead of a water bottle like spout.
