Used online checkin yesterday...loved it!

Did you give your ETA when you did the online process? I'm wondering how he knew it was you.:confused3

I did enter ETA. I do think they use that info as I heard a CM comment to Lizet that the "smith" party should be arriving soon. however, I was about an hour off with my estimate!

When you said that the young man asked if you were *you*, did he actually ask your name?? How on earth did he know who you were?? Is the online check-in that specific that maybe you were the only one actually arriving at that particular time for check-in? Wow... now that's service!:lmao:

Yes, he used my name. It surprised me and I asked him. He said something like "we have many ways that are magical here"...something like that. But I think the guard at the security gate must have notified the desk. Perhaps online checkins are flagged in some manner?

How is the pool refurb going? We are staying at BCV in 38 days for the first time. Glad to hear online check in went well. I am looking forward to using it.

I haven't been over to SAB yet. I'll probably be in that area today. If I am, I'll post an update on the resort forum. There's a thread going about SAB there as well as a Y&BC FAQ where people update the info.

I remember doing a double-take in October when I was greeted by name at Beach Club, too. I think there was a link from Magical Express check in alerting the cast members at the resort that you're arriving. That's the only thing I could think made any sense.

Glad to see the BCV online check in went smoothly for you, and that you received that personalized treatment, too. :)

sounds awesome. wish we could do it! My DH had to drop out last week and just my college daughter and I are going down for spring break this saturday. When I tried online checkin yesterday, I noticed that they still hadn't changed our party size from 3 to 2. Knowing what I have heard about IT, I thought I should phone member services before trying to check in. My CM phoned tech support, and they are having some "issues" over there when there have been changes to the ressie after booking. They hope to have the glitch resolved soon. Anyway, I was advised not to attempt online checkin because the system wouldn't be able to handle not having a third name to put in.:sad1: Oh well. Maybe next time at BLT for my birthday in September. All you folks that can do it, enjoy! Glad to know it works.

Unless you're doing a dining plan, maybe you could just leave him on the reservation and cut up his card when you get it. Or ask the CM to do it.

I think I had made my ususal two requests and one was granted. I very seldom get both. I think a small # of villas meet both and it could be that all were aready occupied. At any rate we're very happy campers.

So were you notified at the time you did this online check-in that you received one of your requests? Like it SAID you received one of your requests??

We are going to SSR in May and I requested the Grandstand area. If we can't get Grandstand then I want to be in the next closest area to that (not sure what that would be) and in August we're going to BCV and I requested to face the quiet pool...but so would it be a crap shoot about getting any other options since you wouldn't be able to talk to someone at the desk??? Without any face to face conversation with whoever's checking you in you're really left with all or nothing or would you still be able to make changes once you arrive??:confused3 Like no negotiation once you've checked in??

The next closest area to Grandstand would be the Springs section.
And about BCV, I'd like to know if the request was granted, too.
 

Does anyone know if you can pay for dining ahead of time this way? I sure hope so!!!

No, I was not notified that a request had been granted. I was clueless until checkin. There is face to face conversation...I mentioned her name was Lizet (sure hope I remembered that correctly. She did check to see if my other request could be granted but there was no such villa ready and that was most important to us. She even change our floor so we could have a balcony. If there had been anyone behind me, I wouldn't have asked but there was not.

You do give the credit card info for the DDP when you do online checkin so that speeds up the process too. Our Deluxe DDP paperwork was already in the folder. I didn't check to see when the charge hit our card though.

Oh, and SAB .....only one smallish section is closed today. It's the last section before the sandy wading area.

OK, well then I guess if you still check in there after you check in online I don't understand what the advantage is of doing the online part.:confused3 What do you gain by doing this??

The only thing I see is that once you get in line, you aren't waiting around a long time while the CM goes over your info, checks your address, phone #, names of your party, Prints out your parking passes if you need them, prints out your keys. From what I have read, by checking in online you have a folder ready with your keys and everything you need.

Also, possibly the lines won't be as long for the area for people who have checked in online.
