Used new code but... Didn't get the rate!

I went through DU yesterday to make our ressies for our oct.-nov. trip and gave them the new code. I was quite shocked to find out what my quote was. It was only 15% off rack rate. I called back and asked why. She said it was because I was staying during regular season the first 4 days. Yes I am but I'm staying the next 12 days in value season. She says the price won't go down. I have to pay $149 a night at CBR. I don't see why I should have to pay the extra for value season. That's $70 more anight for 12 nights. I wasn't even going to stay there but I thought it would only be $300 more for CBR than ASMu. So I decided to go fo it. Looks like we will be staying at ASMu after all.Anyone else having a problem?

Are you allowed to have two reservations and stay the first 4 days/nights at ASMu and then, with another reservation, transfer to CBR at the reduced price for the rest of your stay?

my agent (not DU) split my reservation so I can get the lower rate for those days.

tell yours to do 2 reservations. one for the first 4 days, one for the next 12

I've never had to do it, but I think others on the DIS have had this problem and they just split it into two different reservations.

Unfortunately that's how they get you! YOu can always make two different reservations. The only problem is that you would have to check out and then check back in. Since you're staying so long, why not switch resorts mid stay? I'd stay at All Stars those first few days that are still regular season, then I'd switch to CBR when value season starts. You'd probably end up paying almost the same rate for both resorts. Could you convince your family to do that? It's just a thought.

On another note, this policy CAN work for you. Last year they had AP rates up until 12/25. We checked in to the GF on 12/25 with the AP rate of $199 per night. We were given that rate the whole stay even though we were there during peak/holiday season and the rate for the same room at that time was like $395 or more. So you have to play the game, you know?

This has always been DIsney policy. It can sometimes work in your favor, but can also work against you...

If you check in during regular season, but your stay goes into the Value season, you pay the regular season rate the entire stay

HOWEVER, if you check in during Value season and it goes into regular season, you pay the value season rate the entire stay!

The rate for yoru stay is determined by your check in date, not the length of the stay. A way around this is to make 2 ressies, one that starts when the value season starts. But you do run the risk of being moved to another oom during yoru 2nd ressie.

When you book a room at disney, the rate is based on the rate for the first night. For example if you check in on the last night of vaule season in December for 10 nights, you pay the value rate for the whole stay instead of higher holiday rate.

The only way for you to get around paying the higher rate for your entire stay is to make two reservations. You can book the first 4 nights at the regular rate, and book the last 12 nights at the value rate. You'll have to send in two deposit, and go to the checkin desk twice during your trip. When you book you can ask them to put a memo on your reservation so that the resort knows that you want to stay in the same room.


I had to do this yesterday because I could not use the code for my entire stay. I'm paying rack rate for the first 3 nights and using a code for the last 3 nights. Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the help everyone. I do have PAP's so I'll wait till the new rates come out on the 28th and see if this helps. If not I guess I'll either pay more or have to make 2 ressies. Or I could change my dates? Is MNSSHP really that great?

Definitely do not pay more just make 2 reservations it is painless. I have done it many times the CMs certainly do not care and when you check in they will note your reservations and link them so you can stay in the same room. All that is required is to go to the front desk at the start of the new reservation and check in again and get new keys, it is simple. I have 2 reservations for my upcoming Sept trip because I am staying 15 nights and you can only get the AP rate for 14 consecutive nights so I have the last night as a seperate reservation. The CM at CRO is the one that suggested this when I made the reservations!

I would just split it into 2 ressies, it really isn't that much of a bother once you are there, and you will usually stay in the same room. If it can save you that much money, it seems sort of silly not to do it that way! Yes, I think that the MNNSHP would definitely be worth the 1st 4 days at a higher rate!

When I made my first ressie at BCV for early November, the CM told me that with a standard ressie, I would have to pay the higher rate for the whole time as I am checking in prior to value season and then staying into value season. I couldn't get two separate reservations for some reason due to availability and my length of stay, but she told me that as a DC member, she could split the ressie and have the rate drop with a "phantom" reservation. I made the change after joining the DC and when I got my confirmation, it does only show one reservation with the rate drop incorporated.

So you might want to try that angle if it could work for you.

I would do what ever it takes to get that value rate. It probably is a substantial savings.

There is no way I would pay full price. SPLIT YOUR RESERVATIONS!!!!! We do this all the time. NO BIG DEAL.

I have split ressies at all stars just tell them you don't want to change rooms, also when you have to check out and in again don't worry they usually have a CM telling people in this situation to come to a special line atleast this was the case the last time I split my ressie, Do not pay full price 12 nights will save you lots of cash

Thank you everyone for all the advice. I called and was told I could not make two ressies. I ahd to pay for reg. season for the whole trip or change my dates. After a lot of thinking I decided to change my dates. I saved $70.oo a night for 9 nights. So I decided to extend our vacation for 17 nights. I think it all worked out for the best. I will miss going to the MNSSHP though but I will be attending Super Soap Weekend.
