Used Magic Band for Child

Not sure if this the right place to ask, but looking for a used magic band. We have friends driving to Disney Saturday the 14th. They have a friend that will not be staying with them on site. Their little boy will be joining them each day at the parks. He has some special needs and has a trach all the time and does not eat and is fed through tubes and bag. He is 4 and first and maybe only chance to go. The issues is my friends children will have magic bands and he won't because he is not on site.....they are helping by taking him each day. He will see the other kids with them and not him. So I was hoping that maybe someone has a band that is used and willing to give up so he can have one. I realize it won't work, but for him he will feel part of the crowd. Please let me know if anyone can help.

Let me start by saying that I haven't paid much attention to magic bands, so this might be wrong. Someone will correct me if so. I think I read somewhere that the magic bands are going to be used for subsequent trips, so that you would not give it away, but use it for the next trip.

Oh... I didn't know they would be able to be reloaded....that makes sense. Hoping maybe then I find something that looks like it.

Again...I definitely could be wrong about this. Hopefully, someone will either correct me, or confirm.

Unfortunately people are listing them on ebay for quite a bit of money, like $50-$75+ for one!

I would pay, but that is going to be steep for just a band for a child.

Unfortunately their trip is before ours or I would be glad to send you a band. Even though the bands can be reloaded, I would imagine we would like to have different colors and will get new ones each trip.

Just a thought - Will he feel more left out if he has a band but it doesn't work? He'll see the other kids scanning their bands for admission, FPs, etc. He might want to do the same but his band won't work. It also might cause confusion with CMs who see that he has a band and try to assist him in holding it up to the scanner. You would have to explain each time that he has a different ticket and that his band is just for fun.

Rather than getting a regular Magic Band, I think it might be fun for him to have a special bracelet that he gets to wear. Perhaps make something for him with pictures or stickers of his favorite characters. That way, he'll have something to wear but it will look different enough that it won't cause any confusion. As far as I know right now you can't buy a used band from someone else and get it reprogrammed for someone else. If you were just getting it to be used as a bracelet ok but they really should be used for more than that. Magic bands are still in testing mode I wouldn't buy a used one yet even if I was able to due to the fact that they are still in testing mode.
