Okay, after reading all the negative things about Alamo here, I was a bit on the hesitant side as I walked up to the counter at the Dolphin. When Melissa, the agent, asked me right away about how many of us were going to be in the car and if I would consider an upgrade, I figured..okay, here it comes..the big pitch. But, I was soooo wrong. Melissa told me she would be eternally grateful if I would take a Buick Rainier rather than the Pontiac G6 I had rented....with no price increase. She said no one would take it since everyone wanted the smaller cars. I said I would, since I drive an Escape and it was just a tad bigger. Then, when I asked her about addtl. drivers, she asked my dh for his license and said no charge at all!
Then, we got to Tampa Intnl early. We had rented at 3 pm on Friday and planned to return the car on Sunday at 5 pm. but we got there about 3ish on Sunday (okay, dh is a bit compulsive about getting to the airport early, but 3:00 for a 7:00 flight is a bit much!!!). They refunded me the addtl 2 hrs price!!!

I have to say that Melissa was the greatest..she made the experience so much better than I had expected. I won't have any issues renting from Alamo in the future. I figured I would post so that there were some opposing views since there are so many negative experiences with Alamo....or maybe I just got really lucky!!!!!

I had a Buick Rainier with my last rental with National (Alamo&National share vehciles) and it was awesome! It rode great, got ok gas millage (21 for an SUV) and had leather!! Great snag at $192 for 8 days...

Melissa is one of the few people that has great to me EVERY trip!! Sometimes when I'm not renting, I'll still stop by to say Hi to her. She really goes above and beyond to make you experience everything it can be!!

Glad everything worked out for you Diane!!!
