I remember the heat on my last trip. I had less than $20 left on my Disney Rewards card so I bought one of those things. Besides, it seemed like half of the people visiting had one! I find the mister handy on VERY hot days. Disers, do you use them? Would you recommend them to friends or neighbors. I think they're worth it if you can find cold water for them. My only problem is that, oddly, I tend to get red spots right below my neck at the end of the day. I'm guessing it's heat rash or something similar. Disers, did you buy one? Are the designs always the same or have they made other colors/styles? I'd love to see them.

That's the exact one we have. We used the ice from the kiosks. They have those aluminum tubs filled w/ice to keep their drinks for sale cold. We never had one kiosk tell us "no" when we asked for the ice. We'd refill whenever we saw one. I let the kids play w/it after we got back and I'm not sure if it's still in decent shape. I'll surely be taking it again if it is.

We have the exact same one too! DS wanted it, so we purchased, but guess who ended up carrying it when he didn't need to mist? ME! :rotfl: Guess that is what moms and dads are for! We've never used it anyplace other than Disney.

I recently purchased non-Disney misters that attach to belt loops with a carabiner. They obviously don't hold as much water, but they do the job and we have used them already at sporting events for the kids.

The misters are definitely a must have when touring Disney in the summer months. We have thick blood up here in NJ and need all the help we can get to deal with the Florida heat and humidity! ;)

We never liked the ones with the fans on them .

But we do have one and have used them.

Now we use a MistyMate that you pump and it has a nozzle that sprays a fine mist. They work great as well.

We also use the Ice from the tubs or just get a fresh cup of ice water from one of the CSs as they are free as well.

Have you tried the Gel nech coolers they work great also

We bought one and used it on several trips. My son also took it to soccer camp and was very popular! They seem to hold up well.

Yep, we have that same one. DD is planning a trip to WDW with friends next year after graduation has already asked if they can take it with them to save money. She's growing up right! (Getting a group together to go to Disney and learning how to save money doing it!)

Found it to be a pain in the neck!:rotfl: Seriously, we found that with a little planning, you can avoid the heat pretty well and not purchase the fans. I always ended up carrying it, people would give us dirty looks if my DD6 misted them accidently (yes, I tried to prevent..seems like people would apprectiate a little mist), it was large and bulky, and uncomfortable to carry. I do plan on trying to find some of the smaller misters that you can attach to your belt. I'm all for a hands free trip.

ITA, we love the Misty Mates and neck coolers too. We had a mist fan and my oldest got some of her hair caught around the fan! had to cut a little of it togetit free from her!

We used one of those misters last year and it did work great, only I got tired of carrying it around and found it to be more bothersome than helpful:rolleyes: . This year we purchased a couple of the smaller misters you attach to your belt:thumbsup2 . I haven't tried them out yet and they don't hold as much water but we're hoping they will do the trick. Only 30 more days!!!:woohoo:

90+ degrees! It was the best $20 we spent at Disney. I did have to monitor my 3 yo dd with it. She kept "misting" the others in line.:rolleyes1

You can pick them up at dollar stores and they are like plant sprayers. No fan, just fill with water and spray out.

$1... great deal.

Actually a good tip for anyone who doesn't have A/C in the hot summer months can keep one of these in the car and spray your face/arms when you are waiting at stoplight in the sun.

Works great! and Cheaper than installing air conditioning.

they have similar fans at Walmart for about $7 or so? I have a bunch of them, and bring them on any trip we go on from may thru late sept.

We love the misty mates. They work great and they are a lot smaller, but one of the best things about them is that they do not require baterries.:) The first fans we took with us would turn on in the back pack and the batteries would always run out.

The simplest thing to do to make sure your batteries don't die is to flip one of them whenever the fan is not in active use. Just open the cover and turn one of the batteries upside down -- no power that way.

I also use this trick to keep small kids from running the batteries down by just playing with the fans at times when they are not really needed.

We bought one of those last week during our trip to Disney. I had meant to pick one up before the trip, but didn't get around to it.

Unfortunately the batteries ran out the same day while we were still at the park. But it was nice when it was working.

I admit that having that thing on my neck wasn't much fun because of the weight. I just put it inside my backpack whenever I wasn't using it. I really wish Disney would make a different design every year. It'd be cool to have several kinds in one collection BUT then, I'd be broke really fast!!:beach:

We have that same one. DS bought it for me for Mother's day when we were there in '05. It worked great and we plan on bringing it back with us on our next trip.
