Hi we`ve just got back from a 1 week visit with 5 days at AKL and 2 at Portifino. We did the 4 main disney parks and TL. If you use the am EMH you`ll find you can get most of the bigger rides done easily by 11ish. The max wait we had in our 5 days at disney was 10 mins at the safari at AK.
By getting there early and holding multiple FPs we had no wait for any of the other big rides (e.g. space/ BTM/soarin/TT).
We had a sleep mid pm and then went to a non EMH park in the evening. Going later to MK in the evening we rode Splash mtn once and BTM 3 times with no real wait and no FP).
At AK we found that if we arrived for 430ish, most people left at 5, and then there was an hour left where you had queues of 5mins or so). We tried MGM pm EMH on our first night (24/07- we had a fantasmic dinner package) but it was so crowded that you could hardly see where you were walking, so after this, we avoided any emh park later in the day.
I actually think we spent longer waiting at universal/IoA with our FOTL pass than we did at disney (though we didn`t get there for park opening).

Have fun!

Thank you! I'm off next week so that's really useful to know.

Definitely get to the parks half an hour before opening you will get so much more done. We had minimal/non existent queues early in the day and could get as many FPs as we wanted. Universal was open at 20 to 9 each day and you could walk on each ride.

Thanks. Like Miffy I'm off next week so this info will come in handy!!

we haven't done early opening hours for years (during the years they've had it) as we concluded it tended to pull too many people to that park....
we continued with that assumption this year, so we didn't go to any park with EMH, morning or evening...

what you describe is exactly the situation we encountered but in the non-EMH parks....we were able to get tons done in the first 2 hours of the morning...and this way we didn't have to get up an hour earlier....
