One reason you would want a different use year: Your December use year entitles you to reserve 11 months out at your home resort - so if you vacation in January - your sitting pretty. Say you want to vacation during a different period of time, though. You may want to choose a different use year for that reason. For example, say you wanted to also go "home" during the July 4 week every year. Now you could have that 11 month window with a June use year. However, it is advantageous to have the same use year if you need to use the total number of your points at your home resort for one vacation period. We have 2 different use years and it could be a pain if we needed all of our points at one time 11 months out. I'm no expert, but there are a lot of smart people here on the boards.
