DH, DD, and I finally took the tour last Saturday. Saw the new VWL and I'm in love with the idea of owning a piece of the magic. If we had thought of doing this when we first started going to the World, all the $$ we've paid over the years would have more than paid for our DVC. I just read a couple of threads here, and notice people using the term 'use year'. Our guide never mentioned this to us the other day, and I'm wondering just what it is. Could someone explain, please? We're still thinking about it, but I want to do my homework so that I can 'argue' every point with DH :). Thanks!

Hi MinnieMe2! I spent some time in Ashburnham next door to you in my younger years. Oakmont class of 71.

Now to your question. Use year is really the month that your points are added to your account. We have 200 points with a home resort of VWL and our "Use Year" is August. Each August we get 200 more points. We purchased in Dec 2000 and got 200 points then. We banked them. This coming August we will get 200 more points to use. We will use up all but 11 points on two trips, November 2001 & January 2002.

Thanks, Don --

It's a small world, isn't it? Actually, my husband taught at Oakmont during the time you were there. Did you ever have Mr. Horgan for Math?

Thanks for the help -- We're still thinking about all this. We've made nine trips to the World in the past eleven years, and now know it would have saved us some $$ to buy into DVC. Oh, well, live and learn, right?

Have a Disney Day!!!!

I remember the name, but did not have him. I was one of the "Shop Rats" back then. I would have rather bent metal and worked on engines! Now a days I would not even try to work on an engine. I'll ask my wife when we meet her for lunch today. School vacation week, so I'm hanging out with my kids. She is Class of 76. :D
