Use Year simple question

Just sent our contract in for OKY for 200 points with a June use year. We have 0 points for 2016 and 200 points coming in June 2017.

Just a little confused about use year. Does it mean that if we chose to use all the 2017 points for next year that they would have to be used up by June 2017 or that we can start using them June 2017?

it means you have 200 pts that are valid for STAYS from June 1, 2017 to May 31, 2018.

you can book a stay during that period at 11 months in advance for your home resort and 7 months at other DVC resorts.

use year has nothing to do with when you call to book. nothing at all.

you also have the option to bank those 2017 pts into your 2018 UY, in which case they will expire if not used for a stay by May 31, 2019. or you can borrow them for use in your 2016 UY (June 1, 2016 to May 31, 2017). but you can only move pts with banking or borrowing up or back 1 year and that is it. once you move the pts, they can never be moved again and will expire at the end of their new UY.

Chalee94 knows his stuff. In other words if you get these points say around September you could still pull some down and use this year. If you don't then technically you will have 400 pts available to you after June 2017

OKY is OKW and you can also borrow the 2017 points to use NOW

Think if June 1 as being your new New Year's Day. You can use your points for that year anytime during that year. Or you can borrow them for the year before or bank them into the next year (as long as you do that before the end of January). You can bank points one time until they are no longer any good (you can use them during the next year by banking).
