Use year Question

Can anyone tell me what the best and worst use year would be if we take our vacation in mid February each year?TIA

Best is a Feb UY. Worst would be March.

The worst UY would be March or April. The best would be Feb. with Dec. a close 2nd.

The goal is to try to have a UY that starts just prior to your vacation. During the first 8 months, you can bank your points.

If you are traveling near the beginning of your UY, you have a lot of flexibility for what to do with points if you ever have to cancel a vacation, or just want to change it to use less points.

If you ever cancelled a Feb trip (31 days or more out--less than that there are different rules for the points), you would still have a long time left in the UY to reschedule, or bank the points.

Hmmm. Guess I lost the argument with my husband here. We have a Feb use year and I thought we had a bad use year because..
1. We can never waitlist for something that requires less points without losing points if it comes through.
2. A couple of year ago I thought about booking 1 night at a non DVC resort and and the 60 day rule prevented that.

I just said that I wished we had a June use year. Guess I was wrong.

If you are traveling in Feb, with a Feb UY, than any WL you have can be kept in place until 31 days prior and you won't lose any current UY points. If the WL is for more, than you can even keep it in place until 7 days prior.

Travel outside the DVC resorts is subject to the Ruel of Four meaning you can not book and travel in the last 4 months of your UY, so no travel in Oct, Nov, Dec, and Jan.
