use year question

Oh well, that's good to know. It's not that big of a deal, but if I had a choice, I would choose to pay later in the year. The big thing is scheduling vacation in the summer or over spring break.

When you schedule your vacation has nothing to do with "use year". The only concern for when your use year is would be if you are expecting to need to frequently change your travel plans within a couple months of the trip. If that is your usual mode of operation, then you want to make sure you are far enough ahead of your banking windows, which are determined by 'use year'. Frankly, in 10 years of membership, we have never had any need to cancel a trip that close to our planned vacation, and we do usually travel just before the end of our use year, so we are outside our booking windows most of the time. I just think a lot of folks stress needlessly about which use year they have.

Seems like a Feb or Mar UY (April if your SB is always in April)would be best for plans which are for Spring Break or Summer Disney visits.

I prefer Dec but I have a primary usage plan for Disney vacations across the Christmas & NYE weeks, secondary usage is in Mar for SB third choice Early June so all but 3 rd choice are before banking deadline since Dec has May 31 as it's banking deadline.

My objective is a UY which provides me the greatest flexibility in the event of plan disruption to avoid points which are in my current account and I have no good options for using them that year.

Thank you, your response makes a lot of sense. People here are so patient and kind. I know y'all get a lot of questions like mine. :flower3:

Thanks. It sounds like "use year" is sort of like trip insurance. If something unforeseen happens and you need to cancel your trip, the "use year" affects how much you can bank or the period of time you have to complete the trip.

Wow, 10 years, lucky you! :)

It's also the month of the year in which your DVC ownership entitles you to free park admission and free dining plans for any stays that occur in that month....

:rotfl2:

Am I reading this correct? I have a August use year, and we are going to SSR ( home resort) the first week in August. Do we get free park admissions and free dining plans for the entire week? Please advise. Thanks

Just got off the phone with member services... They said this does not apply. I think what you may be thinking is a deal being offered in September in which....if you are buying park passes and own at DVC etc, they are throwing in the free dining. This is only being offered for a few wks in September only.

You skipped over some posts in the thread, specifically the ones that followed that post. It was a joke by the poster.

There is no free park admissions or free dining.

But NOT kend58. He is not amused.

I didn't care and saw the joke for what it was when I first read it

I was trying before the Mods got back on the thread to help others realize that not all info shared here is necessarily intended as help

Hopefully the issue is closed

Everyone receives their dues bill at the same time. If you opt to pay in full, the due date is Jan 15th. However, you can sign up to have your dues deducted from a bank account every month and spread the payments out over the entire year. There is no extra fee added if you choose this option.
