I took my first Disney Cruise to the Bahamas a few weeks ago on the Dream. My wife and loved it so much we are now looking to do another cruise in 2019. While on board, we had the offer to put $250 down for a future cruise then when booked, we would save 10% off of the prevailing rates, a ship board credit of up to $200 and a reduced deposit. On the form we filled out, I recall a question that asked if we wanted to work through our travel agent, have them notified of this offer or something to this affect.

So for this on board offer, does anyone know if we have to book directly through DCL or can we use our travel agent or even book it through Costco?

Thanks in advance!

You booked a placeholder that can be applied toward a future cruise. You can simply book cruise via DCL, and then transfer it to Costco within 30 days of when you booked the placeholder onboard (I recommend within 25, to allow wiggle room in case of unexpected delays) to take advantage of the full Costco benefits. This is on top of the DCL onboard booking benefits of 10% off & an OBC.

You can also book the stateroom onboard via DCL to take advantage of their 10% discount & OBC. Then within 30 days of returning home (again I recommend within 25, to allow wiggle room in case of unexpected delays), you can transfer your booked cruise to Costco and get the exact same level of Costco perks that you would have gotten by booking via Costco directly. This is on top of your DCL discount. I booked our upcoming Wonder cruise this way. It works.

Thanks Shanti. We are looking to book an Alaska Cruise for 2019 and can do that starting on March 7th. I know my credit card was billed the $250 placeholder fee. When I want to book a cruise through DCL, I assume and hope they have the placeholder in their system. Nice to know I can transfer it to Costco for additional savings.

Just make sure it gets transferred within 30 days of when you booked the placeholder onboard.

Be sure to transfer within 30
Days of when the placeholder was initially made onboatd. Not 30 days from applying the placeholder to a real date.

Enjoy your cruise!
