I've read so much info about using a shoe hanger at the resort, but I'm not sure what all people put in it. What do you put in your shoe hanger? It sounds like a great idea, I just need to hear how it is useful!

The shoe hanger is my favorite all time tip from the Dis boards. :cool1:

We like to hang ours over one of the bathroom doors. We put all of our toiletries in it. Lotion, suntan lotion, toothpaste, aspirin, band-aids, deodorants, aloe gel for after sun, mousse, hairspray, brushes, combs, etc...........

Anything that would normally be cluttering up the bathroom counter gets put into a shoe slot. Everyone knows that is the spot to get what you need.

I bought mine at Target and it is clear so you can see thru it and get to what you need.

I admit that the first trip I brought it on, I was skeptical. My husband was the one that said "This thing is great". What a good idea".........of course, I gave credit my fellow dis'ers. :thumbsup2

I love shoe hangers they are not ony for shoes but you could hang it on your bathroom door and put extra shampoo, razors, soap, in there. If you have little kids you could put their outfit for the next few days so they arent digging through their suitcases making a mess you can also put toys or crayons in there. It's also good to just hold things you use while in your room. Water bottle, hairbrush, remote (so you neve lose it haha :lmao: ), makeup, lotion, actualy shoes haha.

Their pretty useful for holding your things so you dont have to keep going through your suitcase and making a mess.

As PP mentioned the shoe rack trick was one of the best tips I learned on DisBoards.

LA-la-la-de-DAAAAAaaaa. (singing the praises of the shoe rack)

Although mine is not an "over the door" kind, mine hangs on the clothing rack. And, instead of pockets, there are deep horizontal cubbies to stick stuff in. And lots of stuff gets stuck in there!

The toiletries find new homes in the shoe rack. I also put my change/receipts in a cubby so that I have them all in one place. Any extra brochures from the parks and fliers for scrapbooking and memory keeping. Endless possiblities.... it is great as a "catch-all".

Ya know, I was always kind of... meh... about the shoe rack tip but THIS turned that lightbulb on. I hate the way the receipts get scattered all over the table and we usually take a pair of scissors and tape and a sharpie - it would be nice to have a "spot" for all that bric-a-brac!

I may just have to try this one out this summer. :thumbsup2

Wow, oh WOW!!

What a great idea. We camp in our RV--but this idea ROCKS!! We always need more organized storage.

THANK YOU!!

we started useing It a couple of years ago and It works great. But I hang It on the coat hanger/shelf where the extra pillows are stored. We put all of our shaveing gear(where guys, so this will be all guys stuff:rotfl2:),after shave brushes combs. We put all of our chargers and wires In them loose change. I like the Idea about putting the recipets in them:thumbsup2,there always all over the place.

Twice we have taken shoe hangers, and both times the hooks that go over the top of the door have kept the bathroom door from closing. This is bad for privacy, and also bad for noise, as the best way to cut down on noise from other rooms at the values is to keep the bathroom door shut at night. Instead, I put up the ironing board in the "closet" area; there is still enough space for the few hanging things we have, and the board provides additional counter space.

I have one that uses velcro and attaches over the coat hanger. Its meant to store sweaters I think. With 3 little girls, it is invaluable! We use it to keep on top of all our toiletries etc. I keep medicines, tylenol etc. in the top one, then toothbrushes etc. Then hair care stuff and I also put all their swimsuits etc. in one...that way they can help themselves. We also use one to store all of the papers/receipts etc. that accumulate. I would never travel without it now...

So true that it's the best DIS tip ever.

I stayed in the Wilderness cabins with 5 girlfriends last summer. We never would have had enough room in the bathroom for all our girlie stuff if not for the shoe organizer. It's genius :thumbsup2

All of our bathroom stuff goes in it as well as sunscreen, body glide, meds. It keeps the sink uncluttered.

I noticed on our last trip we just got back from that DH and DS didn't want to use it. They wanted their stuff on the counter for some reason. I guess it's a habit for them.

We hang ours over the closet rod because it has never fit over the door at the resorts.

I put all my reciepts and brochures into a brown envelope that I keep in one of the dresser drawers. When we leave I just toss it in my suitcase. Then when I get home, I do a final accounting to see if we stayed within our budget.

Such a simple and yet amazing idea - the uses are endless! Once again, thanks DISers for a great tip - shopping for one this weekend for our upcoming Oct trip! This is why I love the DIS!:disrocks:
