Use Months Sold by Disney

We have decided to purchase at DVC, hoping to find a good resale. However, I also have talked with Disney as we would also consider VWL (we stayed there for a few days last November right after they first opened and were quite impressed.

My main concern is that I would like an October use year as we only travel in the fall and winter -- sometimes in May for my birthday --- but never in the summer. When I spoke to Disney they told me weren't selling October - I think they were selling February (?) or something like that. Does this mean that they will never again sell October at the VWL? If so, I will just patiently wait for a resale.

This board has been great - I have learned so much. I hope that someday soon, I can also say "I'm going home!"

I suspect that if you call and let them know you want an Oct use year, they can still provide that- but may not allow you to use MB. As they get closer to sell out, some use year months will be unavailable. They typically sell contracts with use year months about 6 months ahead of the current month- thus the Feb use year.

We just bought at VWL and have the Feb use year. From what I understand it really doesn't matter when you get your points because you can book for anytime of the year you want. You are not locked into a certain time. What we really liked about the Feb use year was that we have our 170 points right now and come Feb of next year we get another 170. This is allowing us to bank our points for this year (we just got back from a 10 nite stay at WL) .. add them to next years and get a one bedroom instead of a studio.

I am so new to all of this that I am still learning. Am I wrong thinking that the time of year you get your points really doesn't matter?
