I was just going through my list of things to pack for our upcoming trip and was thinking of a way to have my children identified with our contact info in case they got lost in a park. But then I wondered if their magic band would be able to be scanned by a CM and they could pull up our info that way. Does anyone know if that's possible?

No they can not scan the MB for that kind of information. Attractions CMs only get their name in their system. It is possible to access that information from a Guest Relations CM (and possibly resort CM) but they do not allow that to be used. I imagine in a worst case scenario they can but as of now that is not standard practice. Children under 7 still go to baby center if their parents aren't found with in 10 minutes and over 7 go to Guest Relations.

Safety tats and similar are popular for little ones, especially those too young (or who may be too stressed) to give info to a CM. Note that CMs will NOT look in pockets, shirt tags, etc. for info; it needs to be visible. However, please be assured that in the vast majority of cases the "lost parents" are found within a very few minutes by a CM at the scene, with no need to take the child anywhere to contact parents.

Enjoy your vacation!

Not sure your children's ages, but when ours were younger they had the personalized leather bracelets you can purchase in the parks. Since they were wearing them anyway, I wrote my phone number on the inside. They were old enough to know that if they got lost they could show someone the number so we could be contacted. Obviously if they were toddlers, the CM would not know to take off the bracelet searching for contact info.

You could do the same with the magic band (write your number on the inside).

Of course, one year DD did lose the bracelet but we got a phone call to pick it up at lost and found.

We would use the tat's I found at AAA. BUT, write your cell phone no. inside the MB and a phone call is the fastest contact. Also, even for the adults if we get separated, we make a plan to go back to where we last were with each other or the agreed meet spot in the park. I've had cell phones die, but we had a plan in place.

The last time we went with grandsons, we printed "g-pa and his cell phone number" with a fine tip indelible marker one the band. We taught the boys that if 'we' every got lost that they were to go to a castmember. We even 'found a castmember' with them a couple of times so they would know what to do.

Our boys have a dog tag attached to their sneaker that has our contact information on it and we taught them to show the CM if they cannot find us.
