Use laundry service vs. doing own laundry?

I'm thinking for our upcoming 7 night western in August (first cruise ever!) that it's already costing a lot (we're waitlisted for a suite also). I do laundry every day (and cook, tidy up, etc.) as I'm a SAHM. I look forward to being waited on for this trip a lot - so I'm thinking about just sending all our laundry out to be done daily till maybe day 5. It'll add a hundred or two to the price, but really for the hours that it'll save, won't it be worth it? We did this in Mexico at a really nice 5 diamond resort (Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Beach) and they did such a nice job with everything - placed it in the room in a cute basket and hung up the other stuff in the closet for us.

Has anyone used the DCL laundry service recently? Do they do a nice job? I'd have to have stuff ruined (overdryed or something).

In my opinion, it is definitely worth the time saved to have the laundry service do it!

They do a very nice job and their prices are not bad. For example, I had a full suit dry cleaned and a dress shirt laundered and pressed for $10.50, total, using next day service.

They even have same day service available, for twice the price.

We sent out laundry and were happy with the results, especially the shirts and dresses. We had, of course, dirty laundry at the end of the cruise, and I would have sent that out too but, as luck would have it, we were at a show I thought was boring, so I left the kids with dh and went to do the laundry.

I did our laundry myself and it was not a bother at all and saved all that $$$. We were just down the hall from the laundry room which worked out very well.

I am planning on one or 2 loads of laundry during our trip.
BUT...
I will send all our items that need ironing down to be pressed. I hate ironing, but like ironed, crisp clothes. The day we board, all of those items will be sent down.
5 minutes to throw a load of laundry in is OK by me. 5 minutes to iron one shirt is not. :)

I am planning on using the pressing service as soon as we get there.

I am going to send my dresses and DH dress shirts and trousers.

Will do the washing when I get back to our 1 bedroom @ SSR
:goodvibes

The laundry service was prompt and very good. The got out all stains and everything was ironed and in your room on a hanger. I did do a load myself though. Can't see paying for underwear, etc. to be cleaned, but maybe I will this time--who knows.

Yes - I understand about the undies and little stuff! :rotfl2:

Thanks - I feel so much more comfy about just letting them do my laundry! :cool1:

USE THE LAUNDRY SERVICE. It was great, everything came back wonderful. It beat the heck out of the almost 4 hours I spent washing and sending our laundry through numerous drying cycles when I could get the dryer. It was no problem for the rest of the family, they were happily lounging on the deck. I say - HAVE DCL DO THE LAUNDRY. You're on vacation.

I made the mistake on a vacation a couple years ago of getting the kitchenette suite thinking it would save money and the kids (and dh) wouldn't be eating as much junk as if we had to eat out all the time. I didn't feel like I got a vacation at all spending all my time feeding people and cleaning up!

IMO, if you have to forego a massage or two, it's worth it. What good would the massage really do you if then you spend the afternoon in the laundramat? No thanks! It's your vacation too.

Is there a place that lists prices for laundry service? I'd like to know what I am getting myself in to before I decide not to pack my Tide.

I found this from another post:

Actually, for the dry cleaning, we pay more at home! I found this to be the case at the WDW resorts, so I like to have my sundresses done while on vacation (I tend to wear them rather than shorts to the theme parks, I think it just looks a bit nicer and it's cool and comfortable, but that's just me).

Using disney laundry service on a cruise is the only way to go. Who wants to do laundry when they are on vacation. There is such a precious little amount of time on a cruise anyway.

Disney laundry does a great job. Everything comes back perfectly pressed, even the t's and underwear..lol. It also saves on over packing, as hubby and I have our favorite comfy things to wear, so we just wash/rotate instead of over packing. Works great.

It never fails. Ask a question and someone usually always has the answer. Know you even have a complete list of each item that would have to laundereed :thumbsup2 . My opinion is that if you are on vacation why would you want to do laundry. Unless I am on such a very long vacation you can't help but doing laundry there is no way I am going to do laundry. If you have to do let the service do it.

Here is what I did and it worked out great for both cruises. I took all my drycleaning in one suitcase from home, because I figured if I got it done at home it would be wrinkled by the time I got there. I sent it all out when I got to the room the first day. I know it was way cheaper than at home, I think it cost about $45 for all our dress clothes, and it probably would have been somewhere around $75-$80 at home, and then what? If it was wrinkled but clean from the trip, pay for them to press it? It worked out great. I also go to bed much later than my DD and DH, so one night, maybe the 4th or 5th day I did 2 loads of laundry, it took about 2 hours between washing, drying, and folding, no big deal.
