Use gift cards on fully paid res?

Can you use gift cards and get money credited back to your card if you get them and call after you have paid for your package in full? Scenario: pay for package, obtain gift cards, call Disney to apply gift cards, receive creidt back to credit card used to pay in full.

I don't think so. Probably the only way for this to work would require that the existing package be cancelled and a new one reserved using gift cards as the payment form.

You can use the cards to cover any charges made to your room at check out. So, you can't really apply the cards to your account prior to your trip, but you can use them for spending money in the parks just by charging "to the room" with your magic band. Even though you are required to have a card on file for the room, that card does not have to be used as the form of payment when checking out.

Last August I had luck paying for my room only reservation at POR using gift cards. When we were checking in, I found out that my credit card was charged in full earlier that day, but I asked to pay using gift card, and the CM was very helpful in refunding everything (including deposit) to my credit card and charging my gift cards. I am not sure if it works with package though.

This does work. A few days to see the credit back, but it does go through!

Yes, just let the cast member know you want the original card credited. This happens all the time...people waiting for the Disney cards to arrive pay with another card at booking, then call to apply the new card and receive a credit on the original. Another example...person pays in full, then their friends or family call to pay their portion and request a credit on the original.
