We love AM EMH.

But, guests who are not eligible to attend them, or don't show up near the start of them, should avoid mornings at the park with the AM EMH.

:welcome: to the DISboards, jimmyk!

I think that 7/10 is a bit off. That will be one of the busiest weeks of the year (Easter). Keep an eye on the hours, as they may change to an earlier opening.

MK I would definitely get up and do the early EMH, no matter what time it is. But you need to be at the park at least a little before they let people in so as to be in a position to take full advantage of that golden hour and the one right after it.

AK would probably be another one where we would do early EMH, but we also usually have hoppers, and we would be done at AK by lunch time and headed to another park or back to the resort for a break. If you don't have park hoppers, that afternoon break is still a good idea and then just return to the same park for the evening.

HS and EP early EMH are maybes for us. There's just not as much open at either one to absorb the EMH numbers.

The only late EMH we would consider is MK, and then only if the EMH goes until midnight or later.

If you're on site, then you should take advantage of EMH

If you're off site, you should avoid EMH parks

I read a lot that the parks w/ the EMH are the busiest but that must just be late morning and afternoon.

A park with morning emh will generally be busier throughout the entire day vs when that park doesn't have emh

We were Commando Tourists from 1999 until 2005. In that latter year we arrived on New Year's Day and started our park days the next day. That was the first EMH day, prior to that it was Early Entry and the EMH park was MGM in the evening. We went there to see Osborne Lights, it was packed, we left early. Starting the next day we began our new strategy, avoid early EMH, sleep an extra hour and hit a non-EMH park at rope drop. We seem to get in as much as we ever did, in a more relaxed way, we haven't done EMH ever except for Epcot evenings by accident because we end most days in WS and FW.

We generally avoid EMH parks. We aren't early risers, so getting up super early just makes for an exhausting day. We did an evening EMH at MK this last week and a bunch of the major rides were closed. It really was a waste of time going there. Splash Mountain, Pirates, Thunder Mountain were closed as soon as EMH started.

In all honesty, it depends on your plans and what park has the EMH. I like the evening hours because a lot of families with little kids clear out after the fireworks (Epcot and MK) and you can get a few really good hours in. The morning hour(s) I tend to avoid because well, I like my sleep, as well as, if you're going for something like 7DMT, you're gonna go for that and there's your hour (or more depending how quick you get there) and you might just stand in a queue (not exactly the way you probably want to spend your time wisely).

Keep in mind that this is also Star Wars Celebration week ( The BIG convention) so that adds even more visitors to the World, and Orlando in general.

I think we may try this strategy in Dec. We didn't want to pay the extra for park hopping tickets since this was more of a budget trip. We may do evening hrs for Epcot and maybe AK instead and see how that works.

I love morning EMH.

But we leave the parks at lunchtime for a break.. at that point, it's simply too crazy, especially in the EMH park.

And honestly, now that I have a houseful of teens, we're more prone to skip them altogether and let the kids sleep the extra hour. We miss out on some rides, if I have a much happier family.

Or...
does that just mean the bickering moves to a different subject?

;)

No, thankfully we're mostly out of that stage.

But I can remember some doozies from our golden years!
