Use CROCS as water shoes?

I posted a thread below asking about water shoes at Typhoon Lagoon.

Hubby just said to me, why can't we just wear our crocs in the water?

We each have several kinds of Crocs, but the ones that would stay on the best (I think) would be the Beach style with the heel strap.

Has anyone tried that? Will we look silly?

Should we just buy specially made water shoes?

If you are hardcore about wearing shoes, I would purchase the H2O shoes. The crocs gloat really well and make it harder to walk..... plus they do not fit snug and come off easily even with the heel strap!

If the crocs are at all worn on the bottom, I find them to be a little slippery.

To echo above, I have found that crocs are very slippery on smooth surfaces when wet if the treads are at all worn. Also, the bottom of the wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon could do some serious damage to those soles due to the grit on the bottom for traction.

I would not advise it.. they are made to float.. you will probably lose them.

Crocs are *EXTREMELY* (as someone said) slippery if the treads are worn. You could end up with a bad fall.

Not to mention, they make *horrible* noises when wet, and feel gross on the feet until they dry out.

I'd be wary also, I imagine if they're extremely wet then walking about in them most of the day would also make you prone to blisters, alongside the safety aspect of slipping.

I know you can pick up the water shoes quite cheap on-line and that way you'll save some money rather than buying them at Disney and also they'll fit and make it safer to walk around in :thumbsup2

I've spent a lot of time in river areas. People who need shoes to use in water do not buy crocs. They usually use Chacos or Tevas. Chacos are better but more expensive and made in the USA.

If you are going to buy something just get some cheap flipflops and hope they last a day.

I find our crocs (without socks :goodvibes) to be perfect for Kali or Splash, and I never tried them at the water parks. But I did think they might work at the ocean, and they didn't. We were in NC last summer, and for some reason the week we were there the bottom was very clay-y and had the consistency of brains on our feet. Ewwww! I never experienced that before at that beach. Must've been how the tide was at that time for some reason. But anyway, I wore my crocs in and they were off and I was chasing them in no time. Ended up paying souvenir-shop prices for a pair of real water shoes. I don't think they'd work in the wave pool any better.

HTH!

I love CROCS!! first to say yes...for walking on dry land!!!

NO for anything with water. Your feet will slip inside the shoe, making it very uncomfortable to walk in...when you go on any floor with wet Crocs, you WILL slip...trust me on this one..

I would go with the water shoes and save the Crocs for the parks!!

Not to mention, they make *horrible* noises when wet, and feel gross on the feet until they dry out.

I won't even ask :rotfl2:

Are water socks a good idea or a waste of time? I think they look really weird but it does mean you can walk from A to B and hop in the water without scorching the soles of your feet on the hot ground.

water shoes/socks are excellent at the water parks & do save your feet when walking on hot pavement...

Crocs are horrible for walking in water on pavement -- very slippery on the bottom, and you will find you quickly develop blisters from your feet sliding around inside the wet crocs. Water shoes fit very snugly, they don't slide on your feet.

We've found very comfortable water shoes at Walmart for under $10 a pair (even the adult sizes)

What about the croc flip-flops? We will also be going to both water parks for the first time in June. I have been looking at the abf flip-flops from crocs. If not crocs then which flip-flop to choose? My DS11 was born with a club foot has had corrective surgery as a baby, he will need a supportive flip flop or his foot will be in a lot of pain. Any suggestions?

I think the Croc flip flops aren't good for the water either. You still have the problems of regular Crocs in water - the horrible noise and slickness. You're also really likely to get a blister when your feet are wet in the flip flops where the part between your toes rubs. Plus, you wouldn't really be able to wear the flip flops on the slides as opposed to something that fits snug on your foot.
