Hi there,

When booking your next DCL cruise, while you're on a Disney cruise, you're given a 10% discount off the total of your next cruise. Now we were told by the person who booked it with us that you can use that 10% on any cruise or any sail date you want. Meaning that you can change your already set cruise to a completely different ship or itinerary, or even just to a different sail date and your 10% discount will remain on it. Now that's what I got from my understanding, lol has anyone else heard this, or did I misunderstand?

Id like to know this as well will be on fantasy and wanted to book the dream only b/ it has 4 or 5 day cruises we want to do wdw and a cruise next yr

Yes, this is absolutely true. Personal and professional experience as a travel agent with this very topic. Best deal around! And, if you booked it using your favorite travel agent, they will also get credit for it should you choose to keep your agent as the booking agent. The CM will ask you if you want to keep your travel agent. So...book book book! :thumbsup2

Yes, once you have a booking, it can be moved to any other future sail date DCL has on any of their ships. You can change dates, ships, room categories, itineraries, anything (all bets are off if you move it to a concierge booking -- those have special rules and don't get the 10% discount anyway).

The only caveats: it must be done before penalty date otherwise you are subject to the same penalties as any other reservation and it must be done as a change to your existing reservation. In other words, you cannot hunt around online and make a reservation for the trip you want then call your TA or DCL and ask to put the discount on the new reservation. It has to stay under the reservation number you booked on board.

Under the current rules, you can move the reservation any way you wish--change dates, ships, length of cruise, etc. provided it is done before the penalty date. You will get the offer that is being made for the new booking. This is typically the 10% off + OBC based on number of previous cruises. However, there may be special discounts offered. For instance, we had a 20% off on a Med cruise--had we moved that to a Caribbean cruise, it would have become the 10% given for the Caribbean cruise.

Oh cool! So you might as well always book something, and the deposit you put down is refundable so why not, right?

Can you keep pushing out your reservation forever? It may be 2 years or more between cruises for my family.

Last summer I booked for a 3 night in November 2012, but since have switched it to a 7 night med cruise for august 2013 and still had the discount applied. I hope that helps! :goodvibes

I asked the CM doing the rebooking this exact question and the answer is - in essence yes (for as long as they have cruises available).

Our rebooking CM chose the furthest out, cheapest one available - a 3 night on the Magic or Wonder Dec2013. Deposit for the 3 of us was only $170.

Woohoo! I do believe I'll HAVE to book my second cruise while I'm on the Fantasy this summer!

From what I've read, you can book as many cabins on a future cruise as the number of people in your current party. So, we'll have 4 of us in our cabin this August. We COULD book up to 4 cabins on a future cruise. Is that correct? I don't know if we'd REALLY want to book 4 cabins but we may want to book 3. Would we get the 10% off plus only 10% deposit for all 3?

I could be wrong but I thought I read somewhere here that you could only book 2 rooms per address. So you would need 2 addresses to be able to book 4 rooms. I have never been on a cruise yet but I think this is what I remember reading - someone please correct me if I am wrong.

The 10% discount cannot be used with IGT/OGT/VGT rates. I had a dummy cruise booked for 3 years and hoped to use it on our upcoming cruise, but we weren't allowed. Disney denied us, because we are booking OGT. :(

Still... the OGT rates were way cheaper than booking at full rate with 10% discount and onboard credit, so in the end we still 'won'. But it annoyed me that after Disney had thousands of dollars of our money for years, they wouldn't let us do this.

I'm no longer going to book onboard, because with Disney cruise prices so high it seems like these last minute guarantee rates are the way we will be booking in the future.

The on board booking rules changed the beginning of March 2012. You can now only book 2 cabins for 1 future cruise date and get the 10% discount, the reduced deposit amount and the on board credit. You are more than welcome to book any other cruises you want, but they will only get the on board credit.
The updated info is in the FAQ sticky at the top of the boards under On Board Booking.

There are some DCL cruises that are not eligible for a discount and certain already discounted cruises can't be further discounted. This summer's 2 day cruises out of NYC aren't eligible for discounts per DCL.

Do the same rules apply if you use a 10% off coupon to book a cruise after you get home instead of booking while on board? I know that won't come with the on-board credit, but will the on-board credit available through travel agents still be available while using the coupon?
