has anyone flown with USAirways?
any info greatly appreciated,
Also has anyone ever flown into Fort Myers.
We would like to go on a 2 centre to Sanibel/Captiva and then on to Sarasota.
I have seen a great deal with Bon Voyage, but am a bit apprehensive about flying with this airline

Up to a year ago I'd have said that US Airways were the best of the American companies and possibly the best of all the airlines flying the Atlantic. IMHO they have slipped a little and I would place them below American Airlines in the domestic battle and in the pack with United,Delta and a couple of others. Food is eatable if unexciting, seating is wider and more legroom than Virgin and BA, on the Charlotte route you usually get a new airbus with individual seatback TVs, their organisation (if you're connecting and flights get delayed) was excellent on my recent trip. If their price is better than anyone else or the connections work better I'd be happy to fly them.

That's been really useful for me, thanks Vernon.
I really do like the sound of more legroom for DH and wider seats for me!!
We are not bothered about the food, we usually pack up something for ourselves and 2 kids anyway, can't say I have ever had a flight meal that has been out of this world!!
We want to fly into Fort Myers and I have only found out that USAirways will go there.- not a bad price-£1,040 for 4 of us.
I don't know where the stopover will be yet.
thanks again

We've flown twice with US Airways to Orlando via Philadelphia. We were quite impressed with the transatlantic flights - individual seat back screens and choice of films etc. Less impressed with the internal flights, though.
We were treated very well by the ground staff in the UK in particular. In April, they asked us to consider being 'bumped' to the following day on our outbound flight. In exchange, we were offered guaranteed business class seats on the following day, overnight accommodation and meals, and $400 each. We accepted. They were so appreciative and treated us like royalty when we checked in (at the special desk with no queue) the next day.
An added (and unexpected) bonus, was that they upgraded us to 'first' on the internal flight on the return journey - without explanation! The transatlantic leg was dire, though. Overcrowded and full of tired, restless and grumpy children! Not much legroom we found, but no experience of other airlines to compare with - except BA Business Class (on company business - I wasn't paying!)
Wish we could afford to travel business or first all the time! I suppose we've been spoiled now - what you've never had, you've never missed! Unlimited champagne and seats which can be adjusted to be almost horizontal are now a distant memory.
