USAir - I was able to cancel reservations

I called USAir today to inquire about my flight changes. I had booked and paid for a direct flight to Orlando from Boston last July on Metrojet. They cancelled all their direct flights. When I told them I didn't like the idea of a stop and asked if it would be possible to get a refund, Customer Service Rep was very nice and said sure. Hope I get a credit to my card quick so I can book something else.
 
I also was able to cancel my USAir reservations from Logan -> MCO (we had non-stop Metrojet flights that were rebooked to stopover in Philadelphia) and I had no problem doing it and received the flight credit the same day. Same thing with my Logan -> RSW (Fort Myers) to see my parents at Christmas...just called up and said "I want to cancel this because you changed it" and they said "No problem". I rebooked both flights with Southwest. :)
 
You are going to have to wait for your money!!! I had the same circumstance with USAir that you did. They told me that it would take up to two billing cycles for the credit to show up on my credit card statement. It has been 45 days so far.

They are so full of ****. They manage to get the money from my credit card within 24 hours yet take two months to return it.

I WILL NEVER FLY USAIR AGAIN!!!!

I WILL GO OUT OF MY WAY TO TELL PEOPLE NOT TO FLY USAIR!!!

They had this terrible business practice prior to the 9/11 tragedies and are just using them as an excuse. I CANNOT WAIT FOR THEM TO GO OUT OF BUSINESS!!!
 

Didn't have a problem with Delta. I cancelled on a Sunday...they told me the credit would be on my American Express on Tuesday. I checked on tuesday and the credit was there, just as promised.
 
I had the same thing with US Air. I wanted the direct flights to
minimize the terrible pain in my ears while landing. Now they
did away with the direct flights at Albany, N.Y. airport. Because
*they* changed *me*, I was able to get a full refund. Because
I originally paid by check, they refunded me by check right away.
I re-booked with Southwest leaving just about the same time.
I had to actually go to the airport to get my refund check, which
was not too big a problem, seeing that I live only 5 miles away from
the airport. When I got there, there was only one other person
in line. That was lucky !
 
I got my refund from Continental in about 3 weeks. (on a credit card)
 
I got my refund from US Air for the same reason as you in about 10 days. Iwas told it could take up to two billing cycles however. No one in my family will ever fly again at least with me paying for it. They were prompt in returning my money in full, I will give them that. The airlines have been treating their customers like cattle for years. I used to like to fly, no more.
