Just an FYI from another site...

Rankings
Airlines
Average Accident Rate

1 South West 0.00
2 America West 0.00
3 Delta Airlines 0.23
4 North West 0.35
5 Continental Airlines 0.40
6 United Airlines 0.43
7 US Air 0.45
8 Air Canada 0.48
9 Aloha Airlines 0.49
10 American Airlines 0.53

As far as I can see ...US Air is the 6th safest airline in the country, as of June 2003.

That is a helpfull ranking but the American and United results are inclusive of 9-11 which may or may not be the airlines responsabilty depending on your view.

Aloha Airlines 1 Fatality total

I only fly Quantas. They've never had crashes.

Seriously, I won't be spending money to book any more flights on US Airways. I think the events of the Christmas weekend (especially the luggage problem) might have finished them. I only hope they stay in business long enough for me to use my two free RT tickets I have with them.

Debbie, good grief it really has been 10 years. It seems like yesterday. I'm so sorry about your cousin. I hope everyone gets to use their tickets and points. I guess I'm just getting old because it doesn't seem that long ago to me that Braniff and Eastern went under.

The OP wanted to know if it would be a "safe financial move" to purchase tickets on an airline in finacial trouble, this has digressed into a debate on US Air's safety record and has moved way of topic.

Since the OP's question has been answered let's just move on please!
