When we visited Canada we were able to reclaim tax that we had paid on goods etc, as visitors to the UK can with VAT, can you do this in the USA? anything to save a few pounds for the next visit!

Sales tax paid in the states is not refundable,The US treasury does
not collect the sales tax, this is collected by each county, this is the
reason that tax is lower in Orange, than Oscela counties.

Thanks for your reply, didn't think that we would be able to do this, but you have to save money where you can. Thanks for help anyway

so can people coming from the uk not claim back or get anythink off they buy?:confused3

you will not be able to claim anything back.Yo will ony get the duty free from airport comming back
Paulh

This does seem a little unfair that my SIL can clam her VAT back when she visits from San Francisco but we can't when we go to the US.

It's not the same thing, but a lot of department stores - eg Macy's - do have a tourist discount card scheme. If you go to Customer Services with your passport, they will give you a card that gets you 11% (not sure why) off any purchase.

where abouts is Macy's??

Not sure in Orlando, but they are all over Florida. It's not just Macy's - I think Dillards as well as other department stores do this.

Thanks we will ask next time we are in a department store. :thumbsup2

Thanks we are planning on visiting The Mall at Millenia next trip :thumbsup2
