US vs Tokyo with a push wheelchair

So we've been going to WDW for years, and my wife has needed a wheelchair for the last 10-12 years. So we "know the drill" when it comes to WDW and even DL ( little different, but mostly the same ). She can transfer, but can't walk for long. So she can pretty much ride anything at the US parks as long as she can either fit in line with her chair or get a return time. ( though lately, with the medication she's on, waiting in the sun is another story but I digress ).

How does it differ at the TOKYO parks? Obviously, the ACA is not a thing over there, but it's still a "Disney" park. We'd LOVE to see it, especially DisneySea. But she's very worried that it won't accommodate her as much. What has everyone's experience been in Tokyo with a push wheelchair?

First of all I'm sure you know that right now Japan is very restricted for travel so the average tourist cannot enter. I've been watching and waiting for them to reopen.

I had been planning a trip to Tokyo with my son and we were waiting until he graduated college - then covid hit. I agree about visiting the Tokyo Disney board here and also searching for past thread about wheelchairs there. I had a very informative message conversation with @Absimilliard so perhaps looks for that person's posts. They traveled to Tokyo Disney in 2018 or 2019 with their mom who needed a wheelchair. The plan was for the mom to purchase a portable (foldable?) electric wheelchair while in Japan. Apparently this was the type used most often by Japanese. They don't rent ECVs as we know them nor are they commonly used there. There was a lot of info about what rides are not accessible if you need to stay in the WC up to the loading of the ride vehicle. Some rides they may also restrict access if they think you cannot evacuate (not sure how that works). Overall their trip went well and they found the cast members there to be very nice and helpful. I was more focused on hoping to get an electric WC (it looks like the American push WC but is electric - I've never seen anything like it here). For my trip I may not have anyone to push me (my son will want to do something besides Disney for as many days as I'd want to go) so that was different than what you are planning.

There also seems to be a card or booklet where you could get a return time - at least in the past. If you continue planning for your trip please do post about it because it's my #1 trip I want to do but I know I will struggle with mobility over there (especially even outside of Disney - getting around Tokyo, etc.).

The weather there is a bit like the weather in DC or Philly perhaps - it's cold and can be snowy in the winter. We plan to go in the off season (probably January). I also take a medication that interacts with the sun so that might be a solution for you. I'd have a whole other problem if they got much snow though!
