which is pretty sad considering they are our neighborsTo be honest, not really much about Canada.

Yes, very sad. Unfortunately, we teach VERY little geography in our country. Our children, in general, know very little about what happens beyond the US. Which is pathetic.
I was thinking this.. Is World History taught?

Anybody remember the Rick Mercer tv special called "Talking To Americans"? OMG, I'm basically wetting myself just thinking about it...
I'm sure it's only kids in America that are so darn stupid, right?
Well my dd was in 8th grade last year. She thinks Niagara Falls is nicer on the Canadian Side and that Canadian coins are acceptable coins where we live except in vending machines. She also knows they speak French in Quebec and that health care is cheaper but taxes are higher and waits can be longer in Canada (but like here probably depends on where you live). She has also heard me say that growing up in NH French Canadian was the most common language besides English. Now if you were to ask dd directly about what she knows her first response would be that they sell kinder chocolate eggs in Canada which are illegal in the US. IN our high school 9th grade is US History I thru the Civil War, 10th grade is US History 2. In 11th grade they take Modern World History but I have no idea what that covers.

I never saw anyone call anyone stupid..
Especially children..
And it certainly wasn't implied either, right?

I think you are over-reacting just a bit.
