Next December I will be going on a honeymoon to Disney World for two weeks with my fiancé and son, he will turn 3 in February and two weeks is a long time to just hang out at the World (lord, forgive me). Would my 3 year old have fun and be able to do things there?
I have only been to US once about ten years ago and I've never been to IoA. Yes, we are HUGE Harry Potter fans but I don't do thrill rides of any kind. My fiancé loves coasters though.
I need some advice from US vets!! :cool1:

Well, what do you consider "thrill" rides? As I consider them, the only ones that would fall into that category are the coasters (Rip Ride Rockit, Hulk and Dragon Challenge, Mummy). Rides like Spiderman, Transformers, Minion Mayhem and Simpsons are motion rides, albeit effective ones. Forbidden Journey is almost a hybrid of the two (in that it has the most motion in the most directions). If you are prone to motion sickness then you would likely only be participating in the shows and very mild rides(T2, Shrek 4D, Men in Black, E.T. etc..)

Not sure what the worth of this side trip would be, honestly. You don't mention how daring your son is and the majority of rides require a 40" height (a quick glance shows that only 4 rides have a height requirement under 40").

Your husband would have a blast, but would be enjoying most of it alone. If you do end up going I certainly consider adding an Express pass (regular, not unlimited) option to his ticket. That, in conjunction with the rides with single rider lines, would minimize the wait times for all the rides you wouldn't be participating in.

Depends on your definition of thrill rides as the PP pointed out.If you get motion sick that will eliminate alot ...Universal has great play areas for kids ( Curious George, Feivels and Jurassic park). But alot of the rides have height requirements.Even the seuss trolley/train ride has a height requirement and that is a pretty tame ride .If your son is super timid, even if he makes the requirement alot of the rides have scare potential.I would advise you to go to universals site, look at ride descriptions and look up youtube videos. That might help you guage better. Now if you decide to go with it, Universal does have a child swap program, but it is different than Disney. At uni, the whole family goes thru the ride lines and there are child swap waiting rooms near the boarding area.I happen to prefer this, but alot of kids that scare easily, may be too scared to even go thru the ride lines ( Mummys line can be scary to little ones)

Well, if we decided to do it we were going to stay at the Hard Rock Hotel for two or three days so I think we'd automatically get the FotL passes. I don't do any sort of rides besides kiddie ones (like dark rides at WDW) so it is basically just for my soon-to-be-husband, but he won't get to do much that he wants at Disney because of the way the new FP+ is. And IoA/Universal are his favorite parks and he hasn't been to them in about 5+ years (FL residents) because of my Disney obsession ;)

My 2 year old likes thrilling stuff right now, but I have no clue what he'll be like in a year.

Thank you for the replies though! I tried to go on the Universal website multiple times yesterday but it kept freezing on me. :confused3

I was at IoA yesterday with my 37 month old. We were there about 7 hours and quite frankly it was almost boring. Waiting for family to ride rides, keeping the kid entertained and out of others way. I felt like I wanted to put a Netflix movie on my phone. We hit up Universal tomorrow...hoping it will be better. The kid did live the carousel and One a Fish , Two Fish. If your fiancé will love it and your staying on property definitely try it out...you and the kid can always go back to the hotel. Will report on Universal later.
