I know this should probably be on the Universal Studios board but I thought I'd try for a UK answer first.

Is it true that a non resort guest can buy a one day front of line pass at US. I heard this from a "friend of a friend" and wondered if it was true. She mentioned that it cost £30 per person.

I'm not planning to go for a while but last year we had trouble getting express passes by mid morning and this might be a worthwhile purchase.

Hi Libby - yes, you can buy "Universal Express Plus" - this allows you FOTL access once per ride.

I'm moving you over to the UK Trip Planning board ( and you are welcome to post your Universal questions on the UK boards :) )

Yes, I think it is around that price - $20 - $30.
But, you can get them for 'free', if you do a timeshare viewing - they were in both US and IOA, promoting this when we were there. The timeshare is not a Universal one - can't remember what though!!!

Yes the Universal Express pass costs $25 per person. But it is not the same as being a Hotel guest - you can only get onto each ride in the park ONCE in the express queue.

Great if you want to go on everything and only have one day to do it.

BTW - Shrek was a 95 minute queue when we went in July with Express passes gone by 11am (the express pass queue was 15 mins long!!) so it may be worth it for this alone.

One thing to keep in mind is that if it is $30 and say there are 4 people and two parks that is $240, for that you could get a room at the Hard Rock which will sleep 4.

You book into your room at 7.00am (you won't actually get in your room) and get your key cards which are also your Front of Line Express Passes which you can use as many times as you like.

At the end of day spend an evening at City Walk, walk to yoyur hotel to sleep and then wake up the next day to use your passes at the other park.

......that's my kind of thinking!!

But I'm just wondering? IF....you just happened to forget to hand in your key card at the end of your stay.......would it still work for Front of Line?????????

I haven't a clue......curious though!

Mike,

You dont hand your room cards back when checking out, just the mini bar key. So you have the full day to use the cards.

I'm thinking about visiting Universal on Boxing Day this year and if we do will definitely get these passes.

You can purchase them in advance for $20 for peak times and $10 off peak (including tax) - but they are valid for the date you select only. I believe they cost more if you purchase them at the gage. You can only do it by selecting the theme parks tickets only option on this site:

http://www.universalstudiosvacations.com/

I haven't done it yet, but believe you pick up the tickets at Guest Services so no postage fees.

You'll find loads of additional info over on the Universal/IOA board.
