This summer I will be travelling to WDW by car, and I am hoping to bring some gifts with me. Am I allowed to bring packaged food items (such as jams and chocolate), wine, and maple syrup across the border into the US from Canada?

Apparently I am clueless when it comes to the rules at the border. I've never brought things with me into the US, only back with me into Canada, so I don't know what I'm allowed to bring.

TIA!! :thumbsup2

You can bring wine, chocolate and maple syrup. You would have to check the duty free limit on wine. It is likely one bottle. What you can't bring is fresh fruit, vegetables, meat and meat products.

Actually, you can bring almost anything that is fresh. If you have fruit leave the little sticky labels on it. If they don't know where it's from they will take it. As for meat, you are OK with deli meats and things like that. They won't allow game type meat.

The rules changed approx a year ago and as far as I know they haven't changed back. They finally got over 'mad cow'.

I would just add that you mentioned they were gifts. I don't know if you meant to wrap them, but just make sure they are accessible at the border for the guards to go through them. If they are a "wrapped" package, they will probably be unwrapped, so make sure they are in gift bags!

Thanks so much for the help everybody! :worship: I appreciate all of the info!
