US Customs at Toronto Airport

Hi all,

Flying to Orlando in Feb via Air Canada in Toronto. We usually fly out of Buffalo, so it has been years since we flew out of Toronto.

The last time we did, we were on Air Transat at 6:30 in the morning and had to pass US Customs in Orlando. Painful. Our flight leaves Toronto at 8:30 in the morning this time - My question is, will we pass US Customs in Toronto or when we get to Orlando?

I believe my husband & I had to go through US Customs in Toronto when we flew Air Canada to Boston in August. We certainly did not pass through customs when we landed at the Boston airport.

Yup you'll do customs in T.O. seems that most commercial flights (the ones I've flown from YYZ) clear you here but the charters (airtransat, sunwing. skyservice etc) clear at MCO.

In Toronto when on Air Canada or West Jest. Give yourself extra time, 2hrs, because the line can be slow.

I think all trans border flights now pre-clear us customs in Canada from Toronto as they have full facilities in both Terminal 1 and 3.

We've always cleared US customs here in Toronto when going to FL; both charter and non. I like that they do it here, so when we get to FL our vacation can start the moment we step off the plane!

I've flown with Sunwing to MCO 3 times (most recently, Nov 2012) and we have always gone through US customs in Toronto. Once we got to MCO, we went right to Magical Express.

Reading this makes me panic! We have 1 hour and 20 minutes between flights. Knowing we have to get our luggage, go through customs and check in for our second flight makes me sick to my stomach. Maybe they'll give us the boarding passes for our second flight when we check in with Winnipeg.

A couple of things first most airlines when you have two flights booked with them will give you boarding passes for both flight at check in either in the airport or online. Next you may not have to collect your bag in Toronto, double check with your airline at check in.
