Has anyone flown with them to Orlando? I have done a bit of reading about the seats in economy, and haven't seen anything that complimentary about them. Usually, we fly PE, but the prices are ridiculous this year. As it is, we are having to pay the same price for an Economy seat as we paid for a PE seat just a couple of years ago.

Anyway, US Airways (with a change in Charlotte, NC) are coming up just a little bit cheaper than VA. I am just wondering if the space, leg room, entertainment, etc is worth the extra savings, or whether we are better of spending on what we know.

Does anyone have an experience flying the LGW -> Charlotte -> MCO route? Thoughts? Feelings? Thanks guys!

Not that route but flew with them in Feb. MAN~Philly~TPA. No problems but nothing special, probably least leg room I have had transatlantic, not great food but I am never happy with food in economy, we eat before boarding most flights.
I really don't care what the flights are like if the price is right, I paid £450pp Virgin wanted about £700pp. it was a choice of going US or not going I would not pay £700 for a flight for just a weeks trip.
It was never going to be a great experience for us as the trip before was Business class.
Nothing wrong with timings or the staff, just felt a small seat.

Flew with them in 2005 but they have updated the cabin/fleet since then and reduced seat pitch etc. I had no complaints at the time, good IFE, same old meals and as usual proficient US stewards/stewardess taking no ....

Thanks for the info Wayne. By the sounds of it, both the seat pitch and space are smaller than what Virgin economy would be. Have I understood that correctly? I think I would rather pay the extra £80pp and have the better space/seat pitch, and better fly times. But we will see. Maybe I have understood you incorrectly!

Not sure why I felt to have less room, Seat guru suggests only difference is a half inch less in seat width, same for pitch.
31.0" 17.0" US
31.0" 17.5" VA

If the difference is only £80 between Virgin direct and US indirect I would go for Virgin everytime. A good thing with US is if you want to upgrade to Business class you get the option when checking in online 24 hours to departure(if available), we were offered upgrade for $400pp which is a great price.

We're about to go on our 10th trip to Orlando - and have flown US Airways every time. Manchester-Philadelphia-Orlando.

They have treated us pretty well over the years and we have no complaints really.

I agree with Cochise's comments about the cabin crew. ;) We've always found that if you are friendly and polite with them, they'll be very friendly and polite back.

Have had the odd delay and missing case, but all has been sorted out for us with little fuss. Last year our transtalantic flight to Philly was delayed and we missed our connection. They put us on another flight from Philly to Orlando, but then that was cancelled. US Airways arranged a room for us in a local hotel, meal vouchers, amenity kits and tickets on the first flight out of Philly the following morning. This meant we got 8 hours sleep and were really well-rested and raring to go once we landed in Orlando.

We've flown the Man - Philly - Orlando route too and we have no complaints.
We're flying with them again this year although its Man - Philly - LAX as we're off to Disneyland for a change.
We have also flown with Virgin a few times now but always direct Man - Orlando and if there wasn't much difference in price I would rather do this, however, certainly this year there was quite a difference in price and that sways our decision.
I can't think of anything negative to say about US Airways.

We have flown twice with US Airways and no real complaints apart from quite a lengthy delay out of Philly last time due to a pilot mix up. We flew Thomas Cook this time direct to Sanford - let's just say I will be going back to US Airways next time :thumbsup2

We've only ever flown with them once and we said that we wouldn't fly with them again! However it wasn't to Orlando, it was Las Vegas via Philly. Our flight out of Man was late so we ended up missing our connecting flight out of Philly. Nobody we spoke to on the flight was interested. They couldn't give us any info re: who we needed to see or where we needed to go to sort out getting on the next available connecting flight. The airport staff were just plain rude and unhelpful. Our return flight out of Las Vegas was late and we just managed to get our flight back to Man we literally had 10 mins! Not to mention the fact that when we were staying with DMIL there was a news report saying they were being investigated for losing 1000s of pieces of luggage! :scared1:

we done that route last year, no problems what so ever, had a great flight.
you just change planes in Charlotte it is not a stopover which was great:thumbsup2

What is the difference in price between VA and US? If it's not much at all then I would choose to fly direct with VA any day of the week!

Have flown with them on two occasions and found them to be okay.Their planes are not as big as some i have been on.Food is normal plane food not five star by any means. No seat back TV when we were on them but they are very well priced and get you there and back.A bit like Ryanair except they fly transatlantic.Cheap, cheerful but don't expect too much.If very little difference in price might be worth going elsewhere as more services and comfort. If like me i would rather spend the difference in WDW.
