US Air - Worried about November flight

I recently read a CNN article that said USAir might be filing bankruptcy again and if they do they probably won't survive.

We are flying them November 25th (Thanksgiving Day) before our November 27th cruise.

How much should I be worrying? If they go bankrupt, what will happen to our money? Will other airlines honor their tickets? HELP!

Is there anyway to cancel with them and rebook with Airtran to avoid any problems?

Last year the US Congress passed a law stating that the other airlines would have to honor the ticket for a $25 fee.

However, if they do quit flying you are going to have to scamble. As soon as you hear about it I would call the other airlines in your area to see what they can tell you.

Unless USAir makes a major schedule change you probably can't get your money back. If they make a major schedule change then call them and request a refund and rebook with ATA if that makes you more comfortable.

Personally, I don't think this will happen. I think they will get some goverment bailout.

USAir is always big news here in Pittsburgh, I haven't read anything that suggests they will quit flying anytime soon. They probably will file bankrupcy, but so have most of the other airlines. Bankrupcy does not equal quitting service. My bet is eventually they will be bought out by another airline. They have code share agreeements with United, they may pick up their routes.
