Has anyone driven 301 to avoid I95 around DC? Did it seem to move well. Please let me know.

My father uses it every year to get from their home in MD to their home in FL. He swears by this route.

Those of us that grew up in MD not far from 301 think it's terrible now. It used to be a fairly straight shot through Waldorf with 1 traffic light at Rt 5, now it's light after light after light. One more location that traffic outpaced the roads. South of Annapolis til you get to VA at the Nice bridge is stop and go, with many traffic lights. I've driven it over the last 30 years. Less trucks driving fast than on I-95, but that's about it.

My sister loves it when traveling to my dad's in NC...I can live withit or without....I've been lucky when traveling around DC haven't hit too much traffic...

It's a mess! I now live in NoVa and visit family regularly in Waldorf. I HATE the traffic there!

I don't think it will save you alot of time. It is stop light after stop light though from La Plata to PG (Prince George County).

The Woodrow Wilson Bridge (I95 from PG county to Fairfax Cty, VA) project is ongoing.

What with all the mayhem on 95 around DC these days, it is probably a better route. Ordinarily tho, it has it's own problems, most especially those traffic lights!!
