My passport expired 2 months ago. I have a birth certificate with a raised seal but just read on another board that my photo id must match my birth certificate. I obviously have been married since I was born so my bc is my maiden name and photo id in my married name. What to do???

I just brought a copy of my marriage licence with me and presented that with my birth certificate and my licence, no one cared.

My wife and I have been to Nassau and Cancun. She was able to use her birth certificate and marriage certificate without having any problems.

Okay......I hadn't even thought about this.

What if my driver's license shows

first name, maiden name, married name

and my birth certification shows

first name, middle name, maiden name.

I am divorced but didn't take my maiden name back. I don't think I have a copy of my marriage license..........it may be boxed up in some things at my parents home.......

any suggestions????

I haven't heard of ANY married woman having a problem with this. Your Date of Birth will be on both your driver's license and your birth certificate. If both of those match and your first name matches on both documents, you will be good to go.

No worries.

As long as the first name and dates of birth match on your photo ID and the certified birth certificate you'll be fine. They do NOT require a marriage license; they expect that married women will have a different last name from their birth certificate. :D

Well 2 more questions:

1. What about flying into Cancun can I use a certified bc, marriage license and military id?

2. My bc from the state of Missouri does state certified and has a slightly raised seal ont he bottom left? Does this suffice I ordered directly from the state?

You just need the birth certificate and your photo ID. Your BC sounds just like Tennessee BCs. I have used mine (Which has my maiden name) and my Drivers License (Which has only my married name) for ID on 4 cruises. No problems. You will not need to take your marriage certificate.

i have flown into Cancun using my birth certificate (maiden name) and my driver's license (married name). I have never ever been asked why the name listed on my birth certificate does not match the name on my photo id. I have never ever thought to take a copy of my marriage certificate. I think they expect that when the name doesn't match, it is due to a name change by marriage...

This is kind of weird. I just noticed on my daughter's birth certificate that the seal is not raised. It is a certified copy that I recently obtained with the watermark and all. It also states on the certificate that it is not valid without an embossed seal. Did someone make a mistake or am I being paranoid.
Thanks for your help. I'm the official worrier in my family.
