Urgent should I go for it question!!! HELP :)

Hello fellow Disney lovers. I have a question for you all. I have a chance to visit the park on Wednesday, 1/8. I am at a work meeting about an hour and 1/2 away from Anaheim. If I rent a car I can probably arrive at the park around 2pm. Disneyland is open until 11 that night. Crowd calendars say a low day 3. Would it be worth going? Do you think I would be able to get in and ride Smugglers Run in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge ? Any whispers about Rise of the Resistance doing pre-opening test runs? I love Disneyland and have never gone by myself. Just curious if it would be worth going, time/ride wise etc arriving so late. Thanks for any feedback.

Absolutely! Seize the opportunity. I often go on Wednesday and they’re usually really good, crowd-wise. Stay till close and you’ll never regret it.

Do it! I would if I were that close. And yes, I think you will be able to get on Smugglers Run for sure.

Definitely go...you can get a lot done in 9 hrs, especially going solo. Don't forget to take advantage of single rider lines, including on Smugglers Run.

While you're at it download a navigation app to use from PalmSprings to Disneyland.
In December, I used one for the first time to drive from Universal Studios and it was GREAT!

No smart phone of any kind? The main problem will be the unpredictability of Southern California traffic. But there isn't really that much to worry about on that route.

I personally think it would be worthwhile, although there should still be long lines on certain rides. You can get a lot in for a short period on a less crowded day.

Look, this board is full of enablers of the Disney habit, so the consensus is always going to be yes. I will just chime in and also say YES. Of course. I don't think I could be that close to Disney and not go!

OK. Wasn't sure what you meant by "no navigator". If you're in for a business meeting, then not having a smart phone would be unusual. However, the route from Palm Springs is pretty straightforward. Depending on how late you stay (and I'm guessing you can't stay past midnight) the lines tend to get shorter. I remember timing a visit where we entered at about 10:20 PM for a midnight closing time. We were in line at Peter Pan before closing, waited even after they had to reset the ride, and got off the ride around 12:45 AM.

At this point there are a lot of things that might be ideal for you other than maybe traffic. Most kids are back in school and the weekday closing hours are still really late. The thing that might not be in your favor is FastPass for the popular rides might not be available, although that might depend on how crowded.

Test the nav app before you have to use it to get to DLR.

I know I will use this option more often now. It made the trip so easy.

What i meant by no navigator was my sister won't be riding in the passenger seat yelling at me to "TAKE THE NEXT EXIT!!!, TAKE THE NEXT EXIT!!!!" LOL LOL

I am going to jump on the enabler platform and say yes go!! I will say I think there is basically no chance that ROTR has any soft openings based on the complexity and frank craziness that has been that ride in Florida since it opened a few weeks ago. I think DLR will want to fully orchestrate the opening of that ride, the Boarding Group process, etc. So I think that will be a no-go, but you can definitely ride MFSR and so much else!! GO!

YES!!!!! You will be able to get on Smuggler’s Run but not ROTR. The only way to get on ROTR early from what I understand is CM previews and a CM has to invite you. But it’s definitely worth it!!!

Use WAZE. All else fails, take the 10 to the 57 to the 5. DL is like one exit north from the 57.

I think it might be quicker to take the 10 west to the 57 south, then just exit at Ball and go west until you hit DLR. Continuing to the 5 may be going to far south. But on the day of, just do whatever Waze advises.

Go! If you are by yourself you will be able to get a ton done! If it were me- I would do a hopper and max pass and I would hit the highlights of both parks!
