I need some ideas for a Valentine's Day box for school...11 yo boy...There's a contest for prettiest, weirdest, most unusual etc. Any ideas? I have a shoe box and a Capri Sun box to work with. We thought of a Wii, a baby where you put the valentine in the diaper, and a toilet. Any more thoughts? Thanks.

I saw a cute idea on Crayola.com today. You might try there for ideas. Good luck!

I saw a cute pic of a box that was a valentine monster. The shoebox was turned on it's side and standing on tp roll legs. It had a mouth with pointed teeth cut in the lid for card to go through. It was painted cool colors with small hearts on it. Styrofoam or pom pom eyes and nose and twisted crazy pipe cleaners for hair.

There is another one I've seen that's a lion. Yellow shoe box. Yellow fringed circle with a white doily and then a red heart doily glued on for the face and mane. Googly eyes, black heart nose, red heart ears, raffia whiskers, fringed rolled yellow paper for tail. Tp rolls cut in half for legs.

Good luck!

My daughter made a Valentine box that looked like an IPOD. She covered a cereal box with white paper and then designed it just like her IPOD looks with a white string out the top and cotton balls for the ear pieces. She added some of her favorite songs at the top.

My 5 yr old son is into pirates right now. So we made his box to look like a treasure chest (its a cigar box given to us by his teacher). I went to the craft store and bought textured paper that looks almost like wood planks. I also got some gold paper which I put on the edges of each side. On top of that we glued some gold brads (I cut off the part that goes through the paper and anchors them) which look like the rivets that hold the chest together. We added some pirate stickers around the sides and on top, plus his name. Inside on the lid I glued a skull and crossbones (ie pirate flag) and lined the bottom and sides with gold paper (looks like melted gold). We got some of those plastic gems and glued them around the inside too so it looks like treasure.

It's not very Valentine'ish, but it's something he can continue to use afterwards. He will be giving out POTC valentine cards too. By the way, I like the Ipod idea!

We made a box that looks like Cinderella Castle. We took boxes and posterboard and covered them with white paper. We used upside down styrofoam cones for the spires and a toilet paper roll with a cone on top for the tallest spire. We even made a balcony and taped a little Mickey figure on it. (Can you tell I miss Disney?) My DH made my DS a R2-D2. Pretty cool looking.
