I am supposed to rent a car for a day from the Regal Sun in a few days. However, I am currently in New York and have lost my driver's license. Since I will be going straight to Florida, I have no way of getting a replacement.
Will Dollar ask to see my license? I remember putting my license information in on their website when I booked the car and I am an express member.
I don't know what to do and without a car, it makes part of my trip immensely difficult.
I am going to call my drivers license company tomorrow when they open, but freaking out for another 24 hours is a long wait.

Thanks for any help.

I would say, call Dollar now and ask. You don't need to identify yourself or your reservation.

They told me I need at least a temp license and not sure my company can get one sent to me over night.

Do you have a passport? I thought part of seeing the license was for id!

Question. Do you live in Ny? If so, try this link.

NY DL

Thats NY FAQ page for lost/stolen DLs. If you live in NY, you should be able to order a new one online, and get some type of temp paperwork.I cant swear to the temp paperwork.

When I rented a car from Dollar, they did ask to see my DL. I think every rental car company that I have used have asked that.

Sorry you lost your license. Crazy stuff happens when you're trying to travel sometimes. Good luck!

We have always had to show our licenses, even when we have by-passed the rental car desk. They ask when you drive away. No company is going to let you take a car unless you can prove you are a legally licensed driver. Imagine the liability for them if they gave you the car with no license and you got in an accident with it. A passport wouldn't be acceptable either. Won't matter that you have already entered your info on the computer, they are still going to want to see the license since the info you entered could be off of some other persons license.

Both times I've rented a car, I've needed it. Also, if you get stopped while driving without one, they can (and will) impound the car. Not worth the risk.. try to get in touch with the DMV and see if you can get a new one.

I travel frequently and you need a valid license, they use it for ID and to verify you are a legal driver.
Anyone in your group over 25? They could rent the car, under 25 might still have a premium charge.
