Hello,
My family and I leave for WDW tomorrow. :yay: We will be driving several hours through Tennessee and Georgia, and of course, Florida, on our way there. We have two people in our party who need assistance in the restroom from a caregiver of the opposite gender. Does anyone know of a a resource for locating facilities in these states? Also, are there certain stores or restaurants that have them? Without access to these, the trip is going to be very uncomfortable for those needing assistance.:headache:
Thanks ever so much!

I don't know how to find those out and I'm bumping this up so hopefully someone who knows will reply.
One thing I know a lot of people do with opposite sex caregivers is alert someone who works there so that they can clear the bathroom for you and alert people before they go in.

All the rest area I've stopped at on I75 had companion restrooms.

I found a list of WDW companion restrooms at AllEars Net before our trip in April. Hmmm tried to post but since I'm a new member it won't let me post the link, grrr.

My son has mild CP & requires assistance in the bathroom, while he's only 4 now & we could use women's rooms, sometimes it was easier for all of us (me, DH & DS4) to just use the companion restrooms. :goodvibes

I have found that gas stations often have one room bathrooms. Even if they are marked male/female you would be the only one in the bathroom.

Newer Walmart stores have companion restrooms. my store is 8 years old and doesn't, but the next store over is 5 years old and has one. they are often near an interstate exit, might be worth a phone call in advance to see if they have one.

Hey all,
Thanks for the great advice. My family and I had a great time on our trip. I am happy to report that every rest stop that we stopped at along I-75 in Georgia had a companion restroom (going in both directions). An employee at the Georgia Welcome Center said that she had stopped at several herself, and found that they all had those facilities.
