Ok I hate this so much that for the past few years we have gone out of NYC...but can't do that again so-please help me with my options. Key factors(in order of importance) Price, 1 1/2 hours of Albany, direct flight prefered over connecting(but am flexible).

What would you choose: Jet Blue or Airtran out of Newburg, Anyone out of Bradley, or wait for SWA and hope for the best out of ALBANY?

we flew out of albany last yr for easter week. We ended up changing our dates because the cheapest flight was usair at over $500. per person. We were going from Sat to Sat and changed and went thurs before to the following wed. after easter. We got SW for 329. per person(the best we could do) Easter weekend was impossible to fly out of Albany.

I have used SW out of Albany for the last 4 years - nonstop to MCO. Have not paid more more than $225 RT. They do have really cheap flights that are one or two stops, sometimes you even have to change planes. I have NEVER used them. Parking is great, the economy lot is $5 a day. There have been no major delays or any issues on any of my trips. I have also used SW to send my mom to visit relatives in Arizona and New Mexico. I had previously flown out of Stewart, but would not do so even if it were chepaer. The airport is extremely small and not consumer orientated, and parking is very expensive. The holidays may be more expensive, but watch for DING fares and you may do very well.

I try to use Stewart as much as possible. For my own trip this November, it was cheaper to fly one way down on Jet Blue and fly back on AirTran, but I chose to use JetBlue RT because the price difference was about $10 but I saved about 4 hours without having a layover. This may play a part in your decision to use JetBlue vs. Air Tran. Depending on your dates, JetBlue is advertising $59 each way to Orlando presently. Good luck.

We are about 1-1 1/2 hours west of Albany and have been flying out of ALB since May 2005. Before that we always flew out of Syracuse (we are 1 hour east of SYR) and then Rochester (we are 2+ hours east of ROC).

We always book direct flights on Southwest and have never paid more than $150 round trip per person. We take the early morning flight to MCO and then when returning home, book the latest flight back. We also use the $5 a day parking with no problems. :wizard:
