upset

I can't even begin to imagine why someone would be so selfish. Behavior like that is truly unbelievable and unexcusable. People like that infuriate me. We just visited WDW for the first time last month, and we saw several families with the MAW shirts on. Every time I saw one of them I would think about the fact that it was probably some child's wish to want to come to WDW, and how special it was that they were there. And even if my DH and I were in line to see a character, I would have no problem letting a normal, healthy child go in front of me, muchless a child who wants nothing more than to see their favorite character.

Hopefully they or their children will never have to face what that family goes thru on a daily basis, but as they say, "what goes around comes around".

I would have said something to the people who were upset. Such as "gee, look at that, Disney really cares about people who won't be here next year. I almost was one of them". Those people get no sympathy from me. They still got to see Chicken Little didn't they?

OMG, how freakin' rude! Since I am a supporter of Bert's Big Adventure & Children's Wish, not to mention the fact that I have a heart, I am really sad to hear that anyone would act this way. Maggie

it is sad that people have that little emotion or feeling. There is a special place for them and I tell you, it is not at a Disney park.

Well, it will all work out in the end when these folks do discover something everyone else has long known...that the earth does not, in fact, revolve around them. But until then, I will sign the petition to throw them off the top of the hat. :thumbsup2

1) I am a nice guy.
2) I am pleasant to stray animals.
3) I don't beat my wife.
4) I give to charity.
5) I seldom get mad, and VERY RARELY lose my temper.

6) If I had seen this, I would have let lose the ire of my wrath at the adults.
7) I might have been thrown out of the park or have been fired.
8) But, they would have gotten a scathing and blistering earful.

NOTE: I don't go ballistic often, but if you want to make me to take off, just let me see someone treating children cruelly, or not willing to work with someone being honored through Make-A-Wish Foundation (or the Give A Child The World group).

This is something that really gets my wrath up. I hate running into people like this (and I do, more often then I would like). However, I have seen a LOT more people willing to let the MAK and GKTW families up. And I always give a HUGE thank you to these families.

A little OT, but I was at MK in March and the afternoon parade featured several families with Make a Wish T shirts. It was so touching. I sat there and cried my eyes out thinking of a close friend who lost her little boy to leukemia a year earlier. They made their Make a Wish trip to the World just six weeks before he died. What a wonderful organization.

my quick rant on the topic:

i absolutely hate when there are adults that rant and rave when a GKTW family cuts in- i honestly wish everytime i see a screaming guest i could just walk off without seeing these people (and i usually am not very cooporative with the rude people because of their actions- but don't worry after they leave, i go back to the good job that i tend to do to make all the other nice guests happy)
i was lucky enough to not be a GKTW child when i was younger, but i did have to battle an terminal illness (they were lucky enough to catch it in time) and when ever i see kids wearing a GKTW button my heart breaks for them because it reminds me of what i went through and i hate seeing younger kids going through the same thing and that just wants me to do my job even better for them because it does give them so much joy to be at disney and it helps that families have such a special, happy memory in such dark times

What an awful thing for you to have to witness, humanity at its very worst. Really in the end all we can do is pity those people. No amount of anger or explanation would have changed their minds as people like that can seldom change their hateful ways. In the end, I would rather be terminally ill than live a long life as someone that selfish and hateful. I really do mean that too because frankly it would be no way to live in my book. I hope that family with the ill child had a wonderful trip, they deserved to.

People who are that selfish will get theirs -- karma will bite them in the butt, but sadly they will not remember how they got a turn of fate -- and then whine about how unfair their lives are. In today's world, parents rush for prenatal testing to make sure their child isn't born with a disability -- often choosing to terminate instead. Sadly, though they can test for Down syndrome and other chromosomal variations, they haven't found the rudeness and insensitivity gene. I'd much rather have a child with a disability than raise a child who has no empathy!

A friend of ours will be there this month with MAW and I hope that any special considerations they are offered are not accompanied by ill mananered people. Her DS is 15 and cannot think of much else but this trip. She would never have been able to manage this with the help offered, and is so excited that he will be able to have his vacation in the Happiest Place on Earth. I believe that she will be so intent on experiencing her DS joy that she will not notice any long looks, but it would be a shame if someone cast a shadow over them.

i find that shocking and disgusting that people act like that, maybe thou they werent fully aware what the wish foundation is about.
shame on them for acting like that. i believe that what goes around comes around, it is nice to be nice ........
