Hi,

We're shipping a box of family necessities down to WDW for our upcoming trip. I see lots of people mention using UPS for this, but I was wondering if anyone ever used FedEx Ground. We were in Houston for a month earlier this summer (husband was working there, so we all went and for all those who live there, great town, we miss TX so much! :-). Anyway, we had to ship a box back home as we'd accumulated souveniers etc. that wouldn't fit in our bags. There was a FedEx/Kinkos close to our hotel, so we just went there. It cost $13.00 to ship the box, which I thought was very reasonable as we live in PA. The box is roughly the same size as what we'll be shipping to WDW and probably very close in weight. Sorry I don't have specifics. Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone had any insight on this or knew of a way I could compare pricing using approximate box size and weight. I don't have any question re. reliability as I receive online orders via FedEx Ground quite a bit and they have always been on time. Thanks for your help.

Can you get a price on-line for FedEx? You can for UPS. Then you could compare them. On the UPS website you just put in where you are shipping to and from and the approximate weight of your box and it will tell you what the price will be depending on how long you want it to take (overnight, 2 day, 4 day, etc.). They were very reliable - the box arrived exactly when the website estimated it would.

You can either call them or go to their website and click on ship package. You then go through all the steps. I would estimate it online and then call them to make sure you included everything. Remember though you will get a better estimate if you have an idea of weight and dimensions. If you don't guess at something you think would be close. You can then get a rate from UPS and then from FedEx and compare.

I have shipped to WDW using Fed Ex several times. No problems, the package has always arrived in a decent time, the price was slightly lower than UPS. I have accounts with both UPS and Fed Ex and usually go to each site and get a cost on shipping, then go with the best price.

Signing up for an account is easy, you don't have to be a business to open an account. You also, don't have to have an account to get a quote.

I've been shipping with Fedex for 10 years (eBay) and tried UPS a few times. I found Fedex to be more efficient and extremely customer service oriented. Their ground service is very reasonable and they guarantee delivery within 5 business days or less depending on the zone you are shipping to.

Thanks! I went by the post office and got a box to ship Priority Mail. But I may switch to FedEx ground.

My understanding is that if you are shipping items to your resort you cannot use USPS, only Fedex or UPS. Something to do with the addresses and U.S. Postal not delivering directly to resorts.

Wow!! Thanks for posting this information. I'll have to check further into this news!! That would be really bad!!
