Just want to share...

If you go to McDonald's at all, here's a way to save.

I buy $20 in McD's giftcertificates whenever I can spare it and am passing by McD's. I go through the drive through. I like to keep them on hand for quick eats when I've got the kids.

For every $5.00 in GC's, you get a code in the back of them for Upromise. Each code is worth $.15.
Then I pay for our order in GC's and repeat the process.

Just a bit of a help, you'd be amazed at how quickly that $.15 adds up!

I've wondered about McD's and how you get the points. So what do you do with the code on the GC's, do you enter it on the website or something?

I just did this on Friday. Of course I never have extra $$ so I try to remember to buy them before I place my order and use it to pay for my food.

It is very easy to enter the code on the site. I just click the link on the main page that shows McD's and it will bring you to a screen with a few choices to click on in which one link is to enter the code from the booklet sleave. Be sure to save it and not throw it away!

The only bad thing is I get so mad at myself if I forget to get the coupon booklet. But every little bit helps.

about the gift certificates. I forgot about that! I really enjoy the new grilled chicken caesar salad - very tasty!

My wife and I have been doing this for a long time now. The hardest part at first was remembering to buy the GCs. Sometimes you get funny looks when you buy GCs then tear them right out to buy food, but some of the cashiers get it. For a little while ( and hopefully they do it again soon) they were worth double. $.30 for a five dollar book. Not bad! We usually spend about $15 on a trip to McDs so $.90 was not a bad "rebate" during that stretch.

The also make nice greeting card stuffers (especially if you usually stick a buck or two worth of scratch off tickets in a card). Tear out a GC or two and stuff it in there instead.

P.S. I called before I started my Upromise account and told them I already had a 529 plan though another state and they told me at anytime I could call and request a check and they would send it directly to me. Has anybody done this yet?

I've heard that they do that, but I opted to have a second 529. My DH wants to keep track, and see a grand Upromise total apart from the other funds.

Any ideas on how to convince friends and family to sign up for this? I'm thinking about "stealing" my parents CC# and linking it to our upromise account. They use CC for everything (like we do) and it's just free money thats not being taken advantage of! There are a lot of restaurants that give 10% back, I don't know which ones but its always nice when I log in and see the bonus. And it would be real nice a bunch of cards linked to the boys account. But most people don't understand, or forget or dont have the time to sign up, They are afraid to give out their CC# or think it will cost them something or they have to do something extra to get the money!

Any thoughts?

Maybe I will type up a letter explaining how it works with all the details and offer to set it up for them.

...to sign up for Upromise! It is SINFUL how much money we spend at McDonald's to satisfy DS's cravings........ (not that I don't love the fries)
