Sooooooooooooooooooooo Frustrated!!!!!!!!! (ok maybe being a little dramatic there)

Want to get a quote on upgrading to premium economy with virgin.........logged into manage my booking and its not an option(as in its there but you cant click it) so I called them and I must have pressed the wrong options as the recording went on about seat allocation which is kinda what I wanted but not really.
Tried calling again to speak to an actual person, 2 calls later and I cant even get through now!:confused3

Just having one of those days lol ok rant over time to have a giggle cause economy or not its still 306 days to Disney :yay:

Anyone know if im just too far out to make an upgrade or any other way to get a quote for it?

brace yourself.....its about £350 per person each way! Its nice flying PE but thats way to much, well I wouldn't pay it anyway.:confused3

Or as in their email to me....'we currently have availability at a fantastic cost of only £695 per person' yep that is fantastic, fantastically high!!

Not all tickets are upgradable either without penalty, it all depends on the fare conditions of the class you booked, its not just a case of upgrading from economy to premium as each class has several classes.

Best time to call when i worked there was first thing in the morning, my first shift was 7am but they have a call centre in india also

OK.................lol thats so not worth it!! I was thinking even if it was like £200pp it would be more than enough to add on!!!

Reckon Ill stick with what I have I got a great deal on flights and was going to use what I had saved to upgrade but I think ill just use it off the holiday!!!!!

WOW £350pp is a lot for what it is! Think ill book the africa trek or something instead what do you think?

It's worth enquiring but I bet you won't get it for £200..even on the day of departure they didn't bring it down to anyway near that price...It is really nice but it's only 8 hours and its the same inflight entertainment. It great you're luggage comes off really quickly and you do exit the plane after 1st class so you do clear customs a lot quicker..so there are perks but its still a lot of money!

TBH I was thinking that this far out they might give a good deal...since I got a great price on the flights chancing my arm and all that jazz lol
Going to save the extra for maybe the dessert party and or the wild africa trek.....!
Its crazy money(to me) for what it is as you said same inflight entertainment etc the perks are nice but I can think of much better things to spend £700 on lol

When we booked our flights for next Easter, premium economy was £200 less than economy!

:goodvibes

NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! see this is what I was talking about chancing my arm lol fantastic price luke!

More to do with economy not being cheap than premium being cheap. Our premium economy was £2700 for two adults, one infant. At the time economy was £2900.

Just done a little check now and economy is at £2650, but premium has shot up to £3700....

:goodvibes

Ok Im going to stop complaining now....£2900/£2700 WOW...it is easter though its going to be more expensive. I paid less than £800 for two adults yesterday for June of next year and thats with connecting flights to London then on to Orlando with Virgin!
Getting nervous now as it seems too good to be true lol (but I have all my booking details etc so I think im ok!)

You Definitely got a good price. We have to travel in school holidays so are always ripped off for flight prices :)

We paid £650 for both of us return to upgrade to PE. so £162.50 each way each...I don't think it's bad for 9+ hours on a plane.

you were lucky...we have NEVER been offered anything less then £250 pp (on the day)..I might consider if it was maybe £150 pp...I think VA is way too high for what it is. I think we are so used to the 8 ish hour flight that it is just a huge flying bus to us and economy is perfectly fine. If I won the lotto then yes I would. :)

We were offered upgrades to PE for £150 per person on the day, but that was a good 3 or 4 years ago. We haven't flown Virgin again since 2010 so I'm out of touch with what they are charging now but they gave me silly quotes the last time we did fly and I also decided to keep my extra money and go do something memorable in Florida and treat the flight for what it is - a means to an end

Im also hoping to upgrade on the day but only if we are on a refurbed plane as I don't think it will be worth the money otherwise.

I have been researching and have seen quite a lot of people give the price of £150 pp one way.

Not sure if it makes a difference in price depending on how full the flight is but my flight looks almost full.

Last Sunday (12th August ) paid £508 to upgrade all four of us (£127 pp) Glasgow to Orlando with virgin on the day

I phoned about 4 times leading up to flight and cheapest I was offered was £950 for all of us

This is the cheapest I have ever been offered in 12 years of flying with Virgin

So really take the chance and see if you can get it on the day....sounds like the best way to get a good deal! £127pp is very good and really I think its only worth that or a little more for the extra that you receive anything higher and its into crazy "I could spend that money better on something else" territory :)
