Upgrading unused PHP - price difference?

If I want to upgrade a 4 day PHP to a MYW 5 day PHP would I pay:

- the difference between the original price of the PHP and the 5 day MYW ticket or

- the difference between the current equivalent MYW 4 day pass and the 5 day MYW pass?

You'll pay the difference between what you paid for the 4 day PHP and the current price of a 5 day MYW Premium ticket. You'll need to get the Premium since you must have the same options on the new ticket (park hopping, plus options and no expiration) as you had on the old one.

Thanks for the info. Looks like we'll stick with what we've got. The pass is a couple years old so it wouldn't make sense to add a day for the price difference.

Getting the maximum value out of an old hopper pass may depend on your having just the right vacation schedule and also a big enough budget either now or in the future.

Because the 4'th through 10'th days of MYW cost so much less than the first three days, it is not that good to use an old hopper pass for part of your vacation and buy a new pass for the rest of your vacation.

For best results a 4 day hopper should be used on a vacation consisting of one, two, three, four, eleven, or twelve days. Thirteen or more days, buy an annual pass and save the old hopper. Five through ten days, buy a new expiring MYW ticket for everything and save the old hopper. Eleven or twelve days, buy and use up first a 10 day expiring MYW ticket. These alternatives need a big enough budget for all new tickets.

Should your present and future vacations not fit the above models, find out the trade-up value of your old pass. Whether using the old pass as-is or applying its value to a new MYW pass is better needs more number crunching on your part.

So if i understand you correctly I cannot upgrade to a 7 day MYW ticket with the Park hopper and the plus option from an 5 day park Hopper I also have to include bthe "no expiration clause".Knowing that I would have waited to buy my tickets.It would seem unfair that i was willing to give my money before going and not wait to the last minute and enjoy the savings of the new packages.Why must I get the premium when I am getting a more expensive package?

With all due respect - because Disney says so. It's their park, their tickets and they set the rules. They, just like any other business, are not required to give you any notice that they are about to have sales or change their merchandising line or any terms associated with it.

On a similar thread someone did mention they were able to change their PHP tickets to a 10 day MYW ticket with an expiration date and pay the difference.So I guess if that is the case I will do the same and enjoy the magic as much as I can.

Just be aware that what GoldenOldie posted are the rules. The Guest Relations CMs are allowed to bend the rules as they see fit. However, they don't have to.

Don't go in EXPECTING them to change things. They very well may do it, but then again, they may not. You may end up with a hard-nosed CM who won't bend the rules.
