Upgrading to Seasonal Pass

Hi! I have a question for all of you Universal vets.

I'm planning our very first Universal trip for late June 2018, and we plan to come back again in November 2018 during Thanksgiving week. After researching all of the pass options, a seasonal pass seems like the best choice for us if my plan will work. I believe this year the seasonal pass had blockout dates for the last 2 weeks in June, which is when we plan to go. If I purchase 5-day park to park tickets from UT, can I upgrade to a seasonal pass as we exit the parks on our last day even if it is a blockout date (since we obviously won't be re-entering the parks at that point)?

Hi I just upgraded my 5 day tickets last month while I was there. We went to a power pass to have less black out dates. Just remember that even if you upgrade on your last day they go by the date the ticket was first used.

Yes, I just did this in July at Guest Services inside the park after I had entered for the last time. You can even go to the gift shop and take advantage of the discount on the way out.

Wow, thanks for the advice! I had assumed that if I was able to do the upgrade, I'd have to be out of the parks at the time of upgrade since I'd physically be in the park on a blockout date for the seasonal pass.

Yep...just remember, the important part is that you are in the last park for the last time...you will not be able to re-enter on a Blockout date, nor will you be able to ride the Hogwarts Express, because you are technically leaving one park and entering another.

So, if you really want to play it safe, do this on your way out for the final time.

And, as stated, the pass starts the date of your original ticket first use...but, it is good until the same date the following year. If you first used your ticket on June 21st, 2017, and upgraded to a pass...that pass is good through June 21st, 2018. I had always thought it ended on June 20th (one year), but it is really 1 year and 1 day.

Awesome - thank you! :)

Hi -- First, A big thanks to everyone on the Universal boards with all the info that has helped in planning our trip to Universal. We were there in 2012 and stayed at HRH-had a great time. I need some help regarding upgrading tickets. Since I started reading the Universal Boards, the wheels have been turning to "maybe upgrade to a seasonal pass" as we need a break from Disney. We are going December 16-20, 2017 (RPH) with a 3 day PTP tickets (they were purchased before VB). We did not plan on doing VB this trip as I have so many extras left on Disney tickets and we never seem to get to the water parks (esp. in December). Are 3 day tickets eligible for upgrades also? I think i read so but my head is spinning trying to absorb everything. My husband and I will probably be in Florida again in the winter 2018 and my plan was to use the tickets again Dec. 2018 with all four of us but that depends on when my youngest dd gets out of college, which will prob. be Dec. 14th. If we could upgrade and we enter the parks for the first time on Dec. 17, 2017 they would expire Dec. 17, 2018, correct? So that only leaves us 2-3 days to use as a family in 2018 but still not a bad option if it could work out. Thanks...see i have a bit of a problem as I can't seem to complete one trip w/o planning ANOTHER! :thanks:

3 day tickets can be upgraded. But, yes, time of your new AP from first day use of upgrading ticket, just like Disney.

Thanks Lynne - so do upgrade last day but it expires first day of use on tickets the following year. Got it. Will Universal be able to give me an idea of price point per ticket if I call? I really have no idea about this as I've never done the AP at Disney. Always did the non-expiring and still have a few days left.
