Upgrading to CL at check in

I wanted to know if anyone has checked in and asked to upgrade to CL level and gotten a cheaper rate?
I was once offered CL for about $100 more a night at WL. I see there are TONS of CL rooms available for my stay and wondered if they discount so they can justify the staffing/food for empty rooms

That discount offer you received and others like them that have been reported on here typically only happen if the room category you are booked in is overbooked or at least close to overbooked and they need to move people around in order to accommodate everyone. If you are going at a time when the resort isn't at very high occupancy, they probably won't offer you a discount. You will certainly be able to upgrade to CL at check-in if there are rooms available, but you will probably have to pay rack rate, which means if you are getting any sort of discount you would lose it. If you want CL and there is a discount, I would book it now because discounted upgrades are rare unless the room category you are in is full.

Also, unless I'm mistaken, $100 or so is typically the price difference between non-CL and CL rooms with the same view so that wasn't too much of a discount anyways.
