I purchased 4 Day Park to Park tickets from undercovertourist, before the price increase. When I calculate the cost to upgrade to a preferred annual pass, do I pay the current full price difference from a 4 day park to park ticket to a Preferred Annual Pass?

Alas, with Universal you lose the discount. You pay the difference between the current cost of the AP and *what you paid* for the ticket you're upgrading from.

Interestingly, it's the way DisneyLAND does it; WDW is the one that has spoiled us with the ticket-bridging thing.

bumbershoot is correct. Prior to our recent trip May trip, I had purchased one of those buy 2 days get the third day free tickets from Undercover Tourist for my mom. I was hoping to be able to just price bridge the ticket to a new AP for her. They told me they don't price bridge like Disney. They are apparently used to people asking, because they mentioned Disney and their price bridging, not me.:rotfl: Anyway, all they gave me for the three day ticket I had, was the price I paid for it from Undercover Tourist. They had the price in their computers.

I should have known though. Several years ago, I bought some of those seven day park to park $99.00 tickets Universal offered (the winter just prior to the Harry Potter area opening). When I went that May, I upgraded one to an AP and was hoping to get the current gate price for a seven day ticket. Nope, all I got was the original $99.00 I paid. Again the price popped up as soon as they scanned the ticket.

Universal will give you credit for exactly what you paid for the ticket you are turning in and will charge you the 'current' gate price of the ticket you are trading up to.

Well that makes the APH rates for when I'm there not worth the upgrade at all. Thanks for your help.

OP - You only need one PAP within your family to obtain the annual pass rates at the hotels.

The others in the party could have power pass (if not visiting during black out dates) or or just use the existing tix you have on hand.

The real savings happens when you schedule a 2nd trip before the expiry dates of the APs.

Approximately $150 to upgrade my ticket to PAP for a $50 hotel savings is not worth it. I don't think my souvenir and food budget will be over $1,000 worth to see any savings. (Maybe if it included alcohol)

unless you're going to try and sneak in a 2nd trip within a year from activation, then the numbers likely won't work for you.

many times the PAP rate offers better savings, you must currently have a good rate.:thumbsup2

Keep checking back, though; the rates might go lower. hope hope hope.

I thought the power passes were only for Florida residents now?? Has that changed??

Power passes are for everyone. They've been that way for a while now.

When we were at publix last month they had the US ticket vouchers hanging near check out and on top of the power pass voucher it said Florida Residents Only. I didn't know they had 2 different ones. I guess that gets confusing if someone buys the wrong one.

What about military tickets? They have them discounted on military bases. I thought I had purchased them a few years ago and universal "bridged" the difference and gave me credit for what that was at the gate. But I can't remember for sure. Has anybody had experience with upgrading military tickets?
