Upgrading to AP?

i am heading to WDW next week for a solo trip. In late March we’ll be making a trip with DD and DSIL. They currently have 5 day hoppers purchased through a third party seller that are registered with their MDE account. Our accounts (DD’s and mine) are fully linked. Can I upgrade their hoppers to APs while in the park in January? They haven’t been able do this online and would like to have the APs before a March so that they can make FPs for an early May trip.

The person the AP is for has to be there to upgrade a ticket. Need to show ID. At least this is what happened with myself and my wife last year. I couldn't upgrade her ticket, had to wait until she arrived.

Will C is correct. The person the AP is for has to be present for activation. There may be an exception to this for children under 18, since they do not have to present ID, but anyone over 18 has to be there with ID

Because they will make FPs for the late March trip so when they upgrade, they will be 30-45 days away from next trip.

They will need to make their FP selections for May before their March trip comes around and won’t have admission media for May without either purchasing more tickets an AP. The March FPs will use up all of their current 5 day pass. DSIL surprised DD with just the promise of APs for her birthday since he was unable to upgrade.

You can upgrade to an AP “certificate.”
That way, the new owner csn show ID at the time they wish to activate the new AP (when they are present at WDW.)
Yes, FPs can be booked using an AP certificate.
