Upgrading to an annual pass

We just returned from Disney on Friday and I have been attempting to upgrade to an annual pass. I guess I didn't know that you had to upgrade in person. Any way around this? I have called three different times and my husband is on hold now. We live in SC and decided to purchase annual passes on the drive back. Anyone have any experience with this? Help!!!

1- Yup.

2- This rule has been in place for several years, now.
It is a specific rule enacted by Disney a few years back. **
(Although it's possible you might get an exception… it has been rare.)

3- I've followed these situations many times over.

J. Upgrading Tickets After Departure

Effective August 1, 2011, policy has changed and no ticket may be upgraded based on telephone or e-mail.
Upgrades (such as adding No Expire and possibly days) may only be done at a ticket or Guest Relations location on WDW.

We had luck once upgrading after leaving Orlando.. however it required an email to Guest Relations they kindly sent me an email with a transaction id and on our next trip I was able to convert the pass.... remember the expiration date will be from the trip that just passed not on your next trip. I would email and see what happens! This happened to us in September 2013 and we were able to upgrade on our return trip in March 2014.
